Default Guildwars Reboots computer

Hi just wondered if anyone is having any of these problems with guildwars since the big update with Nightfall guildwars has been constantly rebooting the computer every few hours or causing a blue screen of death. This never used to happen before the nightfall up date it not caused by a heat problem because I checked that and they are all around 30 degrees and this is the only game that happens to do this to my computer everything else runs fine.

Any suggestions.

I have alos heared that Anet decided to put in some program that actually monitors you computer while you play and helpfully shutdown the game if any so called problem arises.

My sys specs
Amd 3600 64
2GB
Nividia 9600GT 256mb

1) An Nvidia 9600GT doesn't exist
2) Have you tried other drivers for your CPU / Chipset / GFX card? BSOD's are always the cause of a hardware <-> driver conflict.

I'm going to take a shot in the dark and assume you meant 7600GT for the video card.

Your problem is most likely related to video drivers. Grab the latest video drivers from nVidia.com and install them.

Could also be your power supply unit or a problem with your ram?

I once had the pc reboot after getting a blue screen, after sending to the pc shop the result was faulty ram chips.

or

could be your power supply, looks like you are running a very power hungry system, what is your power supply setup?

I had a problem this week with games starting to crash the pc, I had just put a new card in the pc and found out the game was drawing more power than the unit could supply, the fix was to instal a 500w power unit.

Yes I did mean a 7600gt and my powersupply is 550w and I doubt theirs a problem with my ram as no other programs crash or quit out to give me memory refferences in fact Guildwars is the only game that does this and its not even that graphic intensive.

Could be lots of things... as mentioned you may need to update drivers or your powersupply could be faulty.

I was having a similar problem and it turned out there was a problem in my registry. I had to reformat and re-install windows.

Basically I reccomend doing lots of tests and start ruling things out. Start by updating your drivers and running some stress tests on your CPU and ram. Then you might want to rip out your powersupply and have it tested, it's quick and should be free from a local computer repair shop.

Also, next time it crashes try taking the case off and feeling the heatsink on the GPU or CPU. If they are almost hot enough to burn you, you're over-heating. It's normal for them to be very warm though.

If those things fail to come up with an answer then contact support and let them know all the things you've tried and they can help you more.

At first I thought it was a faulty power supply or bad memory but after doing a reinstall of XP and the problems remain and only persist when Guild Wars is running not when any other program is running if it was rebooting on windows desktop that would give me course of concern but since it is do this in Guild Wars and Guild Wars only leads me to think that the programs have put something into that is conflicting with my system.

Although I have heard of a monitoring program they have put into the game this could cause problems for some ppl any Idea on how to disable this feature when booting up I also had some Direct Song files installed could they be confilicting with the new nightfall.

Not true. If you re-installed windows and still have problems, then it's more likely that is is a hardware problem. The fact that the problem only occurs with a certain app doesn't really mean much.

Just start doing some tests and have the powersupply tested. Be happy if it's a hardware problem because then it's an easy fix.

Caused by unstable system. As many already know, Nightfall have upgraded the Guild Wars engine, so the requirement now is a bit higher than before. If you're still playing with the same graphic setting as before, it's time to lower it a bit.

Because all Guild Wars use the same client file, no matter you have Nightfall or not, the requirement is all raised.

Well, before the release there was a big update and in that update they upgraded some shaders and textures I believe. If you look on the nightfall box they upped the system reqs quite a bit.

So, your comp is under a little more strain now then it used to be, and if your hardware was defective then that extra strain may be the cause.

I had this problem for Nightfall. When I entered missions my computer would reboot. Turns out my graphics chipset wasn't what guild wars likes to be played on. I found this great program that u can run guild wars though which runs down your graphics for you and allows you to play. You might want to try it out becuase it fixed my problem havent crashed since. This thread has the link and tell you what items to disable http://www.guild-hall.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17362

Just tried a program called Burnintest which allows you to test your memory video and cpu to see if their are any problems after 15mins of everything been set on the highest number it came up that their where no errors or faults with any of the equipment. Trying it again straight after that test only got me a vertiual memory warning that it was getting low so I 've changed that now from 2GB to 3GB.

I had the same problem before, although it rarely happened. After a while it stopped occuring. My thought are that somehow my graphics card got 2 much abused by some ingame bug, but Anet fixed it for that specific card.

Hmm it just seems strange that all these problems started happening after the update and my specs are fine for running the game and its the only program that does it so it could be a unfortunete bug in guild wars. I'll wait and see

Some Nvidia driver have auto overclock. So it will automatically overclock your graphic card if it detect the system needs it. That may cause your system become unstable and crash.
