Just returned to guildwars after several month long break. Just recently (after Nightfall PvE event) the guildwars client has been randomly minimizing to desktop or whatever program underneath. No lag involved but it is very annoying.

I can't seem to associate the problem with any particular action as it seems to happen randomly. If anyone else has had this problem and fixed if could they possibly post a solution?

Is any other program running? Check your task manager. Yahoo IM, Realplayer, and other programs that do background checks might be "popping" you out of GW.

Jaesmyn's got it right. Check for background tasks that like to provide little popups when something happens. AV programs, Yahoo, Email, etc.

Check for browser windows that are open, they usually try to steal focus (especially porn ones). I actually had to help a customer who kept complaining about doing some work on his pc at home and his Word document kept losing focus to his browser (which was open to a porn page that demended focus through a javascript).

I had this problem too (Gw minimizing not the browser set to a porn page) - turned out my zone alarm was trying to update every 30 minutes or so - set zone alarm to manual update and no more sudden minimizing while playing GW

Dang I never thought about Zonealarm doing that. I have the same problem and it is anoying at times thats it. Thanks for the tip Lamont.
