Default WinXP 64bit + ATI 9800 Pro, Graphics Lag Issues

I recently went to XP Pro 64 bit, and have been having major issues with the graphics in GW. Even at 800x600, lowest quality, the FPS drops to as low as 10 during combat. I've tried a series of different drivers, all seem to have the same problem. It looks like GW is the only game which is having problems, as WC3 and UT 2K4 work fine at max graphics.

The annoying part is that my g/f has an almost identical setup but with a Nvidia video card, and she never has a problem. So I'm worried that my solution judging by my google-fu is that I need to ditch my video card or go back to the pain that was XP 32 bit :P.

Any suggestions?

This sounds like driver problems to me also. Getthe 64 bit drivers straght from ATI and that should fix the problem.

I was running GW on XP 64bit (trial) to test it out and noticed that gw played at the same speed / no slow down issues.

I would update the direct x, and do what MegaMouse says about updating the drivers. Also make sure your sound card / network drivers are up to date as well.
