Default Cursor disappears

My mouse cursor fairly frequently disappears while playing GW. It's the only game that this problem occurs with, and there's nothing wrong with my mouse (I've tried several different ones and the problem is still there). In the middle of play, for no apparent reason, the mouse cursor simply turns invisible. I can tell that it's still there because buttons will highlight when I move my mouse, like they do when you run your cursor over them, but you can't see the little arrow. I then have to quit GW and restart it since you obviously can't play without a cursor, and it happens once an hour on average so it's very disruptive. Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a fix?

I had this exact same problem at one point in time. I used to alt-tab in and out to get the white cursor on screen though un-sightly it works. The support team tried a number of things to resolve this issue. Even a wipe and clean install of guildwars and all of its chapters. I changed the swap space sizes and updated the video drivers. In the end I bought a new laser mouse and the issue disappeared. I can only think that it may be caused by some sort of software conflict. If you have more then one usb port try plugging your mouse into a port that it is not usually in and allow windows to detect it there or go into the hardware/device manager find your mouse delete it, and then plug it into a port that it is usually not in to force windows to reinstall the mouse.

It might also have to do with hardware acceleration. You can find that under advanced for your graphics card on the troubleshooting tab. i don't know much about it but I do know at one time the recommended solution for such problems was to lower the acceleration a notch. Though I would hesitate to do it with out doing further research on the issue.

when you hold down the right button, the mouse dissapears and you can change you camera angle. just let go of the right mouse button and it will reappear.

That was not the issue and I assume that is not the issue for the op either.

though you might be on to something, I have had mice in the past that had sticky buttons when they were on the verge of dying. Its quite possible that is or was the case for me.

Though I would like to note that while your post was simple and to the point Mesmer I usually reserve the ridiculously simple answers for people that seem to be well. . . let's just say the simple answer are usually the last answers I come to and present, because I assume that the individuals seeking help know a little something about what they are asking help for. I have found over the years that presenting the simplest answers first often offend people.

Have you tried updating any drivers for your mouse? Many issues stem from aged drivers. Well, "many" may be exaggerating. Since Guild Wars is often updating, there could be something that is not working as well with your mouse as it should or used to.
