Go to the stores and pop em on, id say. Every head is different, and a soundcard makes all the difference.

Of all the headsets that were available when I bought one, I ended up with a weird german brand i never heard of. For 10 euros.

For the rest of the cash I bought gold on Ebay! (jk ofcourse)

I'm currently using this set:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826106346
Work great, but after a few hours with them on my ears get a little sore.

Little bit over budget.. but if I found these on sale, I wouldn't hesitate.

make sure the ear cushioning is thick. thin foam won't cut it.

4 years ago I bought a Plantronics head set for $7.99.

It still works like new.

I dont plug in the ear part but instead just let the sound go through the speakes. Also I wear it around my neck instead of my head, much more comfortable, Since the Mic is on a bendable/possitional arm its not a problem to have it there.

ok ill adjust what i meant:

i need a comfortable, durable, high-quality headset found at most electronics stores such as best buy and circuit city for under 50 dollars

also, are there any advantages over USB or a type of mm plug?

and wired or wireless?

I got a generic one for about $30 at Best Buy.

Basically big foam speakers to make it comfy around the ear with an volume control in the cord.

Avoid the "ear bud" type or the skimpy padding. Standard mini phone jack that plugs in to an extender cord (me and pc have some distance) that plugs in to sound card.

OK then.

I bought mine at Circuit City

It's not USB but I suggest it, seems to be the way of the future.

I've heard many a person say they just use their PS2 headset.

Mine is wired, I don't trust wireless anything.

Yeah, make sure that a) the cord is long enough for you (mine isn't) and b) they've got plenty of padding on the earpieces (mine don't). Standard minijack connection is fine and will be fine for quite awhile. I dunno if USB presents any new options or is better in any way.

This is the one I have and I think its great! Cyber Acoustics USB Headset

How can you go wrong when it says that it is "ideal for the passionate gamer" and "good for communicating with your cyber-space adversaries in battle". Oh yeah...it has a "leatherette" ear cushion which means your ear will be crying with complete comfort. And one last thing....get this....it comes with a nice long chord and a volume adjust thing too. You can't go wrong. It's only a very reasonable $30.

also avoid those that go behind the head made for rigid plastic. you'll want that to have a more rubbery flexible material

This is what i use. It was the best headset that i could get my hands on.

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...ONTENTID=10012

The thing that I like about it is, that it is USB. So that means that I can have the music of my game coming out of my speakers and my guildies voices through the headset.
