Stuck on Connecting to Anet
Title says it all, it's pretty weird, everything else seems to be working fine (except Steam, the client for CS:S).
I open GW as usual, and it stays at Connecting to Anet, for as long as I open it... I've cheaked my Zonealarm, my only firewall, and I also did a windows repair with my Windows XP Pro CD, that didn't fix it either. I've even tried restarting/shutting down my modem thing, and I'm out of ideas... Anyone? |

I've had a similar issue. You could try this: rename your GW.DAT file (call it GW.OLDDAT or something) in your Guild Wars folder then try to run the game again. It should download stuff all over again.
Alternatively you could try rename GW.DAT and reinstall from the DVD and see if that helps any. Either way it will download a lot of stuff again so you might be in for a long wait... |

anet is busy with some updates... and then updates for their updates (because they keep f*king up)
I had some error40's tonight and LA looks a bit different now :S |

I am getting the same problems...it stucks on "connecting to Anet".
Any methods other than what Xenrath suggested? I going insane...

FYI, don't expect much from anet right now.
nearly the entire region is out of power; the city anet is in was 80 percent out last time I checked about an hour ago. we have just had a very bad storm and bellevue is very screwed up, I would bet money anet also has no power. however a good number of anet servers are not AT anet if I recall right. I have no power. I am posting from my phone. its freaking cold and there is no GW for me that's for sure.

The method I posted i.e. rename and redownload/reinstall worked for me. I just redownloaded, took a while but it worked.

Simply move the .dat file to another location, than delete/reinstall GW, once you see GW starting to download files, cancel the operation and put the old .dat file back in place, there is absolutely no need to redownload...holefully

Steam works at least, so after 3 hours of blasting out countless heads, getting 16 people to call me a cheat and getting kicked out of at least 10 servers, I stop to cheak on GW while savoring my incredible skills in......using aimbots....
I find that GW still doesn't work. I have a feeling it has something to do with the free Nightfall access key that was given out for pure marketing to quench Anet's greed, so now I'm going to send a full apology for all the rude and insulting (yet very honest) emails I sent to Anet, and pray to god for his apology, for not understanding the full situation and jumping quickly to conclusions.
