Cool Disconnection when changing area/starting a mission

Hi,

GW works correctly but each time I change from one Area to another or when I start a mission, I am disconnected (Err=5).

Typically, I have started the first mission on the North wall (not sure about the name as I play in French and it is called "Rampart Nord"). When I start the mission I am disconnected 5 times on 6....

My infrastructure:
- Modem DSL Tomson Speedtouch 530 with firewall
- Router D-Link 624+ with firewall
- Windows XP SP2 (Firewall XP off but Zonealarm ON).

Because the transition from one area to another one works most of the time, I don't think this is a classical firewall problem.

I made some capture of IP traffic and have identified that when I am connected in the game I have 3 TCP connections on port 6112. Then I start the mission...."Connection" is displayed on the transition screen and hang... then going back to Windows, I see the status of the third connection going to another server in status "SYN_SENT". This would mean that the server does not respond to the connection request (correct me if I am wrong)....

I made some IP dump as well with Ethereal but nothing more to identified...

I have noticed that when the new connection is done on 206.127.146.57 it works but never with 206.127.146.54 (this could be some luck/bad luck as I have done around 10 tests like this one).

I have sent all the TCP dump and capture of connection status to the technical support but one week with no response except they will transmit this to the development team....

Any suggestion ?

Thank you,

Have you tried playing the game without the router to see if it would make any difference?

I just tested without my D-Link 624+ and it seems to work fine....

So my problem is linked to it...

Any suggestion ? Or someone that solve it with a D-Link router ?

I have a similar problem, but I have it with Factions. Transition from area to area for me in prophecies is easy as can be with no problems of disconnection. When I got Factions though and started playing it, since I made it connected with my prophecies account. I could play all the way up to about Shingjea Monastery. After trying to attempt to leave that place like 10 times I was able to walk out to Sunqua valley for like 10 seconds, and my party saw me out there, then I take a few steps and I suddenly get disconnected.

I've tried reinstalling factions, didn't work. Tried re-logging, nothing. It was talking about a data repair, but after that it didn't change what kept happening, and after everytime I got d/c it would say that there was a serious error and it was being tracked, but it seems like nothing is being fixed to help me....I have Windows XP too...so I figured if prophecies was able to work no problem, why can't Factions....

I had very similar problems recently after purchasing a new Netgear router.

No matter what I did with the router config, I was still plagued with constant error 5s.

Last week I gave up and bought a new router. I bought a Linksys WRT54G for £35.

I have done nothing at all to set up this router, simply plugged it in and attached the cables (I did disable wireless as I use Cat 5 cables instead), and it just works.

Since changing the router I have not had a single error 5.

But the connection I have right now is working fine with prophecies...the only problem is with factions and the whole sunqua valley. I get d/c everytime there...
