I look at mine and it says 8. i was lyke OMG 0.0 so i downloaded the DirectX 9 restarted the computer and waited in joy =p, so i started the game and it still says DirectX 8, i tried auto detect and still dosnt work. i tried download all these diff links for DirectX 9 and stuff but it just still wont say DirectX 9 on GW. And when i download DirectX 9 again it says its allready on the computer when i start the setup. This is where you kick in. nope. I'm getting a new pc anyway cuz the video card I have now doesn't support my hardware device...besides this pc crashed once before, it uses the FAT32 C: type....so yea...not a whole lotta memory so whenever I try to play factions I get pop ups when I enter sunqua valley having it d/c me, saying a serious error has occurred, and a data repair didn't help. So new pc for meh.

Did you get the december version of DX9? Make sure you download the full version instead of the web update, that will completely reinstall DX9 instead of just updating stuff.

My GW said I was using DX8 when I had DirectX 9.0b, and once I upgraded to 9.0c the game acknowledged that I was using DX9. I did the full version download when I upgraded DirectX.

Another thing you should probably do is make sure you have the newest version of video card drivers for your card, it might be causing GW to run in DX8 mode if your drivers are old.

Yeah, if your video card does not support DX9 then your out of luck. I can go out and buy a NEW Geforce MX440, that doesn't mean it supports DX9. Not all cards upoort it new or old. The DXDIAG screen will thell you your video card if you click on the video tab. Post what it is.
