Ok, I have prophecies and I play that with no problems, even though it states that my hardrive or w/e doesn't support the videocard. However, whenever I try to play factions I keep getting disconnected, with a screen coming up saying a serious error has occurred etc. Then, the factions thing did a data repair, but the game didn't seem to be fixed...So If anyone could help me, I'd appreciate it.

Because, also I can play up to the Shing Jea Monastery, but once I enter the Sun Qua Vale, I get disconnected there everytime.

Also, urm..My cpu crashed once before, so the video card isn't supported by this hardrive because my cousin removed the one that came with the cpu, and put in a different one. Yea... Also, I'm using a Windows XP right now, Home Edition. It's Intel(R), Pentium(R), 4 CPU 1500MHz, 1.49 GHz, 512MB of RAM. Also, my C: has a capacity of 15.60 GB, and 5.39 GB Free space, which is 34% free space....could that be the problem? So would getting a new cpu like allow me to play factions with no problem, despite the whole data repair issue and what not?

best thing you could do instead of buying a new cpu is to buy a new video card...one that is supported. If you post what video card you are currently using then i maybe able to point you in the right direction as far as "making" GW play with your vid card...that if its your video card that is causing the problem...you thread is a bit "tough" to understand. so more info would be great!

I don't understand how a graphics card could not be be supported by a hard disk! Once again, what do you mean by this :-

What you typed makes absolutely no sense at all. If you want help then you're going to have to clarify the situation and if possible post a Dxdiag report.

Also, post your complete system specs including what graphics card you have.

Click Start
Click Run
Type DXDIAG in the box and hit Enter

Then The DirectX Diagnostic Tool runs. It tells you about your processor, your RAM, your pagefile usage, your DirectX version, your sound and video card too. If you click the Video tab at the top, it will tell you what kind of video card you have. You should also let us know what version of DirectX you have (it's on the System tab) because DirectX is very important for making games work.

You can also click Save All Information at the bottom and save your DxDiag report as a file, which you can upload here for us to look at.

There's a good chance you only need to update your DirectX version or your video card driver to get Factions to work, so let us know what your DirectX Diagnostic stuff says.

I can't find the video tab part at the top....all I know is that when I started this, and started playing a note came up saying my video card wasn't supported by the hardware device. But I'm still able to play prophecies. As for DirectX I have DirectX 9.0c....

If you need to know anything else just lemme know

Sorry, I meant the DISPLAY tab at the top. That's where it tells you what video card you have.

And unless you downloaded DirectX from Microsoft within the last 2 weeks, go download the newest DirectX here

After it's done downloading, double-click it and it will ask where you want to put the files. Tell it to put them in C:\dx9 or something like that. Then go to the C:\dx9 folder or wherever you told it to put the files and double-click the DXSETUP.EXE file; it will install the newest DirectX and that might fix up your game. If it doesn't, it's something with your video card, and posting what the Display tab in DirectX Diagnostic says will help get the ball rolling on that.

Ducktape....tsk tsk, Your giving Petal some pretty complex directions. I understand this may seem trivial to u but petal sounds more like a novice pc user to me. maybe try to find the display adapter the easy way.

1. RIGHT click on desktop

2. select properties

3. select settings tab

**at this point under the picture of the monitor it will say
"Display"
"Plug and Play Monitor on [your video card type here]"

or
4. click advanced button on bottom

5.select adapter tab---> near top, adapter type, this is your video card.

So what kind of video card do you have petal?

If ur cousin changed the HDD's you may just have bad drivers for your card, but you need to know what you need before you go DL'ing something u may not need.

In my opinion it sounds like you own a rather old and out dated computer with onboard raphics. Best advice is for you to upgrade to new computer that can play Guild Wars and all the chapters. Head to www.tigerdirect.com to check out the System max line of computers, or www.newegg.com for several choices. The prices of late have been dropping so you should be able to pick up a rather good computer for a nrather low price.

Rofl it says the video card is NVIDIA RIVA TNT Model 64 (Sony) tralalala.. I know I know....it's pretty bad....LOL >.<

Not my fault my cpu crashed once before. FYI it does all this data repair too before on my factions when I was installing and yea...I'm worried that factions was all defective and what not....but yea, I'm gettin a new pc for college soon too though. :P

TNT 2 Model 64? Wow, that's awful. That can't even run Diablo 2 with all the graphics settings enabled. You definitely won't be able to run Factions with that, and you're really lucky Prophecies works on it!

You need a new video card, and if you're getting a new computer just wait to play Factions until you get your new computer.

I highly recommend getting a new video card.

But alter your guildwars short cut with the -dx8 -noshaders
It may get it to work like it use to.

Deleting Gw.exe will only break the game, not reinstall it, it's the Gw.dat you want to delete for that.

Also, people pointed out that this videocard wasn't that good.

I'm still using my old pc, but I just found out something new. While playing prophecies, I moved my character to Kaineng city from Lion's arch, and this is my proph. character. I could play it fine just like how I would in prophecies, and no error messages popped up. So then I went to my factions toon at shing jea monastery, and went to sunqua vale and the message of an error popped up again.

However, using my prophecies character in Factions didn't seem to cause a trouble. I was able to go from the port to Kaineng, and from Kaineng to budwe pass or something like that. So I don't understand how this can be?
