Default Two problems with GW

1) Most of the time when my computer tries to process new groups that come into compass range my computer lags alot, this happens in pve and pvp. My fps drops to 1-2 frames from what it looks like, and it takes ~10 seconds for the game to get back to normal running speed ... how can i fix this?

2) Itunes + gw dosent work for me for some reason. If i have itunes open then open gw or the other way around. Itunes will play music fine, then for no reason at all from anywhere from 1 min to 15 mins the music will start getting skippy/staticy making it horrible to listen to. Any ideas on waht i can do to fix this?

Well the reason you are lagged out is because you have multiple programs running with GW. When you are playing you need to make sure nothing is running in the background of your system. When I play it's usually just GW and Teamspeak running. Also if you don't have cable, this will kill you even more. Itunes is a constant running program with updated adds all the time, so that will lag you out.

Try: Only running GW when playing (If you are playing why do you need Itunes going, unless you are downloading or playing music), that in itself will lag you. Also Defrag, spy check, clean your system of cookies.. etc.. and unplug your modem from the wall for atleast a min to reset it.

Good luck.

PS: if you are going to listen to music through a computer program, why not burn the music to an mp3 player/cd player and listen that way... There is nothing you can do to fix the problem while you are running a Multiplayer online game... your choking your connection... so lose the itunes lose the lag...

How much ram do you have and how fast is it? Personally, I run gw with all kinds of background programs and never experience lag, but I have 2gb of ram. Your issue definately sounds like a ram problem. There is a switch you can run gw.exe with that lets you set the amount of ram you can make it use. I believe it is here in the technical forums, I'll have to look it up.

Edit:
Ah, here it is. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=94814 The switch is -heapsize.

The heapsize switch doesn't work anymore, I tried to tell that in that thread, but no-one read it. http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Talk:Co...apsize_removed
BTW, I've got 480 MB myself, and have no other programs running because of that. If you want to minimize lag, try out some steps which I've posted here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10090907 It helped some people I know and I still advice people to do so. It might help you also. Good luck

You could always burn songs from iTunes that you want to listen to onto a CD-R then listen to them on a CD Player. Problem Solved ^-^

ive got 512mb of ram , which should be enough ....

also I had the same problem before when i started using headphones before... but those were the ones u plugged into jack, and these are usb. I solved it before by asking around - but i forgot how.

Also, in task manager when I right click gw.exe the priority is always set on low and i dont know why. If I change it and check task manager again 30 seconds later it is set back on low.

The priority is set on low by default, you can't change that. What is your graphics card and processor? And increase your virtual memory size.

It's set to 'Low' by default at all. It's actually always on 'Normal', but when you switch out the window (say to; msn, firefox, or task manager) it sets itself to 'Low' to provide it so it uses less CPU Resources while your trying to multi-task, but when your back on the game, it'll resume it's priority back to 'Normal'.

Also, list the rest of your specs. Processor? Graphics Card? Checked for spyware/bloatware on your system?

Add the -nosound switch to your GW shortcut properties. If this smooths your gameplay, then it is most likely that your problem lies with your sound device drivers. Also, it always helps to post your system specs.
