Everyone go to support.guildwars.com and bug report this. I'm guessing the new reconnect feature is going haywire with all these disconnects and overloading the servers - meaning more disconnects and more players not being able to login.

I'm getting err=040 trying to connect (based in the UK). When I traced the network link, it seemed to trouble at the level3.net backbone

I'm in europe getting these errors, managing to get in sometimes..tbh seems to be random...

seeme d to have no issues logging into pre, factions and nightfall zones both DC me

guildies reporting lots and lots of issues + lag

guess an update is comming

It would seem that all three games are affected, when going through portals usual problem is load screen sits at zero for ages then I get a code 040.
Seems to be Europe wide.

Let's hope it's sorted soon!

Ping rates fluctuating between 56 and 4135!!!!!

haven't had the problem until tonight, but now it's going nuts for me 4 dc's in 3hours from normal pve and getting lagspikes that lasts around 40seconds quite often. some other random errors is that i loose my guild from time to time, my friendslist goes poof etc etc.

Frequent Error 40s here tonight. Seems to happen entering or going between battles in the arenas. No loading then I lag out and then have to wait 20 mins or so for the error 40s to stop so that I can log back in. Very annoying.

Lots of other folk (especially on EU servers) in the guild have had the same issue.

I'm in England and have a reliable connection.

I had the same problem I was not able to connect at all and, yes, got numerous err40 and err7.
Today I did however, have a weird problem. I completely locked up, couldnt do anything (Ctrl alt delete didnt work, windows key didnt work, mouse didnt work, keyboard didnt work, etc) and I was forced to manually turn my comp off. Doubt it was a server problem. I logged in sucessfully without overdue lag after that.

Thats probably the same bullshit excuse Anet will give. Every single time i've been disconnected today i've never been given the option to reconnect. So bollocks to that reason.

On the bright side i finally got Protector of Elona... so its not been a total loss today.... 'Guild Wars was unable to complete the operation'... this is getting boring.

Hi

Ive been playing guild wars for the last few days am not new to it but i came back on about 2 days ago but i found out like i was lagging like hell and i was reading that u can change your server ip but how to u change it ? and am not talking about changeing dis either.
