Default Blue Screen Errors :(

Hi all, I just bought Guild Wars a few hours ago and was very excited to get it up and running.

However, it seems that I can only run the game for a few minutes before I get a blue screen of death, and a computer restart.

This has happend 3 times so far, one at character select, one while zoning, and one while just outside of town.

My system is as follows:

A64 3200+ Stock
800XL
Turtle Beach Montego DDL Soundcard
2 GB Mushkin ram
HD's, etc

My drivers are all up to date

I hope we can figure this out, very aggrivating getting a new MMO and getting BSOD when I try to play

This may sound weird, but you need to trigger the BS again and record the set of numbers on the screen, this will lead us to your problem. If possible, write down the whole error message and help won't be too far after that.

You can also go start->control panel->performance and maintenance->administrator tools->event viewer and likely see what caused the crash.

A reboot is never the application's fault and rarely even Windows' fault. It will either be a bad device driver or, more likely, faulty hardware.

Likely when playing the game your video card and CPU start drawing more power than when idle which either causes random errors due to overloading your power supply or cause random errors due to too much heat.

The first thing to try is getting all current drivers for everything, which you've already done. So the next step is to do a memory test.

Do you have problems playing any other games such as Company of Heroes or FEAR?

I had a BSOD issue a little while ago. I did the memtest thing, searched here and there and eventually found what was likely to be an IRQ conflict. Quickest fix ever: swap the PCI slot for sound card and network adapter, reinstall drivers and voila! no problems since. This may not be your problem, but at least a possible suggestion to look at just in case. GL

**This BSOD only ever happened playing GW. BF2 and other games worked fine before and after the pci slot change**
