Default Unable to play GW for a week... FRUSTRATING!

Ok, my ISP admitted to them having issues, so i'm not saying it's all guild wars.

I have a cable modem, which usually downloads at speeds of about... well, 300kb/s depending on the source. It's pretty fast internet.

Well, I usually have a low ping on Guild wars, getting a constant 60fps.

I also play Counter strike and battlefield. I usually ping 5 on CSS and 10 on Battlefield.

Well, i'm now pinging 40 on CSS, 50 on Battlefield, but 19,800 on Guild Wars, with 5 FPS?

I have error 7'd about 30 times in the few days, and I don't get it.

Also, when loading towns on Guild wars, I open up my Local Area connection speed which shows incoming and outgoing packets, and the numbers NEVER INCREASE, but when playing any other game they are both slowly increasing.

Is Guild Wars like............. not even using my internet to gain information or what is going on? I mean yeah my internet is acting slow, but 19k ping on Guild Wars give me a break? I don't understand it. It has to be something with Guild Wars too....

I live in Minnesota, USA and run Mediacom for my ISP (THEY ARE HORRIBLE) lol Please tell me something that will help, please...

300k/sec is pretty slow... my cellphone's 3G connection can hit 600k+ easy, and my Comcast landline easily does 2000k+.

Anyway, if only GW is the only game experiencing performance issues, you have several options:

1) run a tracert to gw's servers (IP address visible in the upper left corner of the screen during map loads) and see what latency you hops are experiencing

2) Try running GW on another system from your same network connection if you have a 2nd PC available.

3) If you have a hardware router, try connecting directly to your cable/dsl modem and see if it makes any difference

4) remove and reinstall GW from scratch

Just throwing some ideas in the air...

Well i'm sorry I don't have an amazing connection like you, and I can't get any faster internet in this little town I live in so I can't complain for 10 dollars a month.

But either way, how would I run a tracert to GW's server?

And... it could be my router, but my friend who is also using mediacom is suffering from internet lag, but his GW is still working fine.

And if I remove guild wars, could I use the same dat file or would I have to redownload everything?

EDIT: Also, at a loading screen... Guild wars sits at "Connecting 0%" for like 20 minutes, and I check my packets and none are even sending... WTF! lol

It took me 28 minutes to load an outpost, and i didn't even error out. And another time I lagged in the same spot for 21 minutes, but didn't error? HOW!

I refuse to believe that you get cable internet for $10 USD a month. I have dsl which costs $30 a month and only get 200k kb/s.

Another possibility is that you have some spyware. Run a complete search for viruses, spyware, malware, trojans, anything.

Ok will do.

And actually as of right now I do get Cable for 10$ a month for the internet itself. We pay 30$ for unlimited long distance calling and 40$ for digital cable server, and 10$ for our internet. It's a year long deal, but ok whatever. lol

And yeah, i'm going to run some searches. Do you recommend any free programs to scan for viruses? AVG, nod, something?
