it can be ANY brand, as long as it can get to the us(wisconsin) macs, alianware, voodoo w/e. i dont care about appearence(but if u can choose a color aim for green, if not then the generic black/blue)

obviously the pricelimit is set to $3,000 so you arnt to limited on what you can do, obiously a little sliding room past 3k but id prefer to go cheaper then more

lastly im not buying single parts

What ever case you feel like
Whatever dvd drives you feel like
And a cpu cooler depending on wether you dont mind noise and want to overclock, or dont want to overclock and keep it quiet.

I think GeekSquad in Best Buy have the service of assembling computer. This is something I'm not sure.

Here's something I am sure about. Dell have customized computer service on their website. When you order form the website, there's an option called "Customize it". There you can choose to have your computer customized.

Try checking out Alienware who build gaming pc's. They will be more expensive than building a computer yourself, but that is always the way.

Since when? All Alienware do is put together some decent components and place them in a crappy plastic case and charge you thousands for it. I concurr about Dell not being that great, the same goes for Gateway and any other service oriented company. They tend to offer better deals sometimes, but use lower quality hardware, entry level or "generic" parts.

Build it yourself. It's all but idiot proof, any competent adult can do it, well, nevermind. My competent brother in-law used a vacume on his mobo and fried it. Everyone's competent till they screw up I guess.

If you just don't want the risk, there are several off brand websites that will offer comprehensive choices of parts from all makers in a neat package, and usually have a 360 day warrantee.

I got my rig from ibuypower.com, they did a good job, Drop down menu for every part and had wide selections, even down to cables and such, but that was a while back I guess.
With 3k, you could go name brand(and well above entry level) with every part, and get a snazzy monitor.
I thought I had a problem with mine and they were more than helpful, ended up being a video card I put in, that was pulled from the market soon-after(Radeon 9800xt, A waste of 400$,) Wasn't their stuff or work at all.

That turned into a rant.

If I wanted a quality computer built for me, I would order it from Digital Storm (http://www.digitalstormonline.com/) . They use high quality parts and their machines look cool. ok ive been looking into this more and
1st off-NO ALIANWARE, cnet reviews-2,1,2,3,2,4,5,2...(out of 10)...you get the idea
2nd-widowpc.com, they seemed halfway decent(by the way, i should of said ''customize a computer'' not ''build'' cuz i was implying that i was going to use the custimization feature that most computer stores online have)

id prefer to stick away from dell, gateway and those sorts of companies as they seem to do bad buisness, and my current computer is a gateway...to many problems that outsourced employs dont seem to help with

DO NOT BUY DELL. Try cyberpowerpc, they do pretty good comps for the mots reasonable prices I've found. Dell, alienware, etc. are way overpriced for no bonus. Falcon is also overpriced, but it's actually worth it. Go with cyberpower.

You can make a beast for $3k... DON'T buy from any companies... especially Alienware... they are overpriced. Buy all parts separately.
