Default GW graphics laging when running

Hi
I havent been playing GW(propechies and factions) for about a mounth due to some internet issues i had, and since i returned i noticed that after the updates game's graphics lags like crazy when ever i try to move. this doesnt happend when im standing still. I tried puting grphics setting all the way down but nothing chaned. I turned off eax and it seemed to make the game work fine for like 1 or 2 minutes but then it begun laging again. I defraged my hard drives with perfect disk 8, but it didnt improved anything =(. I think this might be an issue with sound card. I have newest drivers for everything and heres wat im running:
p4 2ghz
768mg RAM
Radeon 9800SE
creative audigy LS
DSL

thnx 4 ur help

P.S. Yes I tried re-instaling the games

lower all the sound bars in your options to there lowest point(=no sound anymore obviously).may not work for all,but i couldn't play anymore because the fps/lag was so bad tried all the usual stuff re-install and such then tried this as a last resort.now i can play again with good fps and graphic settings are all on full.

hope this helps some of you if not all.

All of you need to try increasin gyour virtual memory. Go to control panel,
performance and maintenance, system, advanced, performance options, andvanced, and change your visual memory to the maximum available under the advanced tab.

I have the same problem, but my rig is a Q6600 3 GB ddr2 800 SLi 8800GTX
i lag sometimes when i write in chat/receive pm/switch to another window/and other stuff.
i dont think its performance issue, but program or hardware compatibilty.
i have sweet and fluid performance on every game except guildwars.

yep, ever since around the time wintersday was going on it started lagging for me alot more then normal. Like everyone said above i turned the graphics all the way on low and it's still laggy. it continues to lag after wintersday also over. i sometimes wonder if they didn't bug their systems more since they're having lag and now you get err7 messages like crazy.

I have a Pentium D 2.8ghz, 1gb Kingston Hyper-X ram, Nvidia 7600gt with tweaksrus.com Xtreme-G 93.71 Drivers. I get good FPS (60+) but my ping is crazy! Most of the time my average ping is 300+ and gameplay is choppy and terrible. I've done everything I can to improve my system but nothing is helping GW.

your computer specs only affect your fps - clientside
you cant improve your ping with hardware
you need better internet not a better computer

So it's not solved :P

I had the same problem and fixed it, it was sounds. Basically, the game would start up ok, but get slower and slower, especially when I started combat, and it would never speed up again after each slowdown.

To find out if sound's causing it, don't just use the volume bars, create a guild wars shortcut on your desktop, and get properties on it, and add -NOSOUND to the end of target, OUTSIDE of the quotation marks. Now, run the game, and if it's fast now, try the following:

1)Turn down sound acceleration features in guild wars.

2) Go to sound and audio devices in control panels and turn down hardware acceleration all the way. This worked for others, not for me.

3) Update your sound drivers by going to the manufacturers website. This is what worked for me, GW was entirely unplayable and now it runs perfectly.
