Default mini guide to lag problems.

Hello there boys and girls, this sort of a guide to try to help with lag problem, since yours truly had been having a few lately, and tried a lot of ways to handle them, id thought ill take my experience and put it to good use.

1st and foremost, anything you does on your own risk. Don’t blame, troll etc… ty.

Ok here we go:

You’re playing GW and your lag is becoming more and more unstable (you stand in town frozen for 10 sec…), more load time on screens, lower Fps etc. you’ve got a lag problem.

Let’s get to work.

Download and install this:
http://www.endlagnow.org/ELN/TakeAction_LagMeter.aspx

This program will monitor your lag and help determine where it is coming from (server, network, and client)

Virus scan first, see if you don’t get any nasty Trojan on your system. (Forget to mention, after each step log on, move from town to town and go to explorable area to see how you are doing).

Next, down load and run both of this:

http://www.spybotupdates.com/files/spybotsd14.exe

And

http://dw.com.com/redir?pid=10399602...-10399602.html

ad aware is nice free program that search your system for data minor, scan your RAM, Registry, hard drives, and external storage devices for known data-mining, advertising, and tracking components,

Spybot s&d remove all sort of spy ware.

Both are the basically the, I recommend run both, be aware s&d may alert on your ad aware. That’s ok, just unflag it after a scan. Again log in, stay for a while see how you doing.

As people before me mentioned, defrag your hard drive and your gw.dat, this may help a lot to reduce the prob. Rinse and repeat with GW after the process.

Still going bad??

Register to this website, and perform their test: mostly the tweak test and the line quality testing are your main concern, after the tests post the results in the forums over there (follow the guide line and FAQ before posting).

Last tools and I have used is to uninstall GW in total, and run image

Change it to and add -image to the end so it should look like this:

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image

Apply, then OK. Then run Guild Wars launcher; it will begin to download everything for GW of the Server, leave it for a couple of hours to download, then when it's done. Right-click again and remove the -image of the command line you added before; then your set to play.

~ Josh.
also fresh GW.dat can never herm you

This will help to reduce the lag since you’ve got all the images in your hard drive.

This are all software solution, for myself I have open up my computer, clean the fans and all the inside with dust cleaner. Also power cycle your modem ( if you got one, turn of, let rest for few min, reset if you can)

If the entire above still doesn’t work, you need to call to your ISP and send them tracert of GW. You may not be on priority in their queue, they might be able to help you.

also try this:To run the diagnostic, perform the following steps.

1. Click Start.
2. Click Run.
3. Click Browse and select your Gw.exe program. It will be in "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars" by default. You can reach this through "My Computer" > "Local Disk C:" > "Program Files" > "Guild Wars".
4. The Run window should now read:

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"

Modify the line in the Run window to read:

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -diag
5. Press OK to run the test.

send this to a.net support, they might pointout something (bear in mind that they try to find your flews first.for me i have overclock my v card, and so im using diffrent drivers, therefore a.net suggestion was to install ati drivers again, thx lts a.net haha .

That’s about it, any Q&A and ads on are more then welcome.
