Cool No More White Box Head People!

So many people have had what I call "White Box Head Syndrome". The general problem is a failure of textures for an item/armor piece/face/etc to load.

The solutions given have been to just restart the client and it should "fix" everything. Well, if you're like me, you've tried this with no solution to the problem.

WELL PROBLEM SOLVED!
Follow these simple steps and lets get it fixed.

1. Make a copy of your GUILD WARS shortcut. Just copy it to your desktop.

2. You'll need to then add -image to your command line on your new shortcut. To do this, right click on the new icon and choose PROPERTIES. Then, under the shortcut tab, find the command line "target" and add the -image at the end. It will look something like:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image. Click OK when done.

3. Next (guess what!) click that new shortcut. Guild Wars will start up just like it usually does but instead of taking you to the startup screen the client will begin loading an uncompressed image of the DAT file. BUT BEWARE: This will take a while as there are at least 62000 files in the dat file (at least when I did this). Be sure to disable your power options that put your PC in standby mode if you're planning on leaving it for a while.

REAPING THE REWARDS!
What do you get after all this? #1 NO MORE WHITE BOX HEAD PEOPLE! #2 Your load times from here on out are going to be freakin' awesome!

I hope this helps you all out.

Peace & Chicken Grease!

Kudos! I've been trying to figure out how to fix the white boxes, but until now there hasn't really been a definite answer, and since -image takes forever, I didn't want to spend an eternity only to find the white boxes still roam the lands of Tyria. Supposedly now I can do -image without worry.

Reinstalling guild wars does not fix the white box problem, despite it being common advise for it. In fact because the white box seems to be because of data you still have to download, reinstalling will make it worse. To fix it either do -image, or put up with it till background downloading gets the files you need.

Default Wow, thanks....

. . . Bilateralrope for repeating what I stated when I started this thread. . . .

GENIUS!

Feel Free to use the information in a guide. I'm just trying to help out.
NOTE: I was checking out my dat file size. It went from about 3 gb & "Change" to 4.5 gb. I've found the extra 1.5 gb to be worth the space so far

It even fixed some stuttering that I was having.
