Default Virus concerns

While I was out of town for 3 days, my son and nephew downloaded Limewire and some music. Since then, my comp is running downright slow. I use Spybot to scan everytime I turn the comp on and DSO Eploit is always there. I delete it and run AVG anti-virus and AVG anti-spyware and followup with Ad-Aware. These find nothing, but that DSO Eploit keeps reappearing. Can someone reccomend an anti-virus program that will find this virus? I do NOT and WILL NOT use Norton (hate having to 'renew' it every year).

I use Zonelab and haven't had any problems with it yet.
I also use the free online scan from Trend Micro.

DSO Exploit is a kind of backdoor left in Windows by the designers. This is fixed by an updated version of Windows or a patch can't remember which.
If you are interested in what this is and how to remove it just do a search on the Windows help site.
As far as i can remember (i dealt with this awhile back) it is not too serious a problem but it does pose a way in for pesky hackers.

The DSO Exploit annoys me, but I am concerned more about what keeps reactivating it upon removal. I am currently 2 hours into running Trend Micro (dialup, sucks), cause nothing else can find anything wrong. The last time my computer ran this slow, it had several peices of spyware and a couple of viruses on it. I am told, next to porn sites, free music download sites are bad for these 'invaders'.

Make sure you don't have limewire running in the background. In fact trash it and never let them use it again. If you are going to use one, use frostwire.

And no free music download sites are not bad, you just shouldn't visit every website you can find. You should use trusted sources. In fact that really goes for anything you can visit anywhere on the web. There are no specific website types that are better then others, its all about the owner and the coder.
