Default Rubberbanding...

This must be the millionth thread about this, but it's driving me crazy!

I always get this rubberbanding in the worst possible places, UW, DoA. Losing a lot of money/spent time, because of a problem cleary on Anet's side. (I'm on a 6/1 mbit connection) A lot of guildies and alliance members are having exactly the same problem.

To those who not know what I'm talking about, Rubberbanding means you run past a group of mobs, still taking damage when you're clearly out of the aggro bubble. After a while you get teleported back, and in most cases it's too late...

Do you play on American servers? I hardly ever lag, my game always runs smooth. I'm betting it has to do with the internet connection in your area or compatability issues with your computer running Guildwars. Have you always had this problem?

And yes there is a ton of lagg and dc's and rubberband from the day they removed the holiday stuff.. its because they always screw somthing up when they keep piling the crap on..

I bet the code is so messed up now not even anet knows what it is..

I play on European servers.
@wsmcasey, that would be unlikely, since a lot of other guildies are having the same problems.

What world do you live in?
You can say whatever you want about the game , Anet doesnt own this site.
The thread might get closed if the only thing it has in it are insults and that like,If the same topic has been talked about before ( and possibly closen 100 times) or when its just pure stupid.

Reading the OP post i can see no reason why it would be closed except if there is already a open thread about the subject ( which i believe there is) he is not flaming , insulting or anything like that in his post.

There is a lot of lag since they removed the holiday stuff?sorry but other people will say they dont get it, YOU are experiencing a lott of lag since then.I wont even give a comment on the screwing up part, except for it sounds like you had enough, maybe its time to look for another game?

@OP : you say the problem is not on your side, because you probably checked stuff, or internet works fine on other stuff etc etc and if that is the case it must mean its at the other side, in this case Anet, but you are forgetting the route taken between your side and Anet, maybe the problem is there and in that case its neither your fault or Anets fault but some stupid isp in the middle.
When people talk about this Anet often replies by telling you to send your info to them ( i believe they tell you to send a traceroute info ?? ,maybe someone that knows for sure can help here) so they can see where the problem is and if they can help with it. ( calling the isp telling them some wire is broken somewhere or something)

Lets face it. A lot of information is censored on this website. I made a post a while back regarding my thoughts about how this website changed for the worse, with more flashy ads, different levels of membership, etc., and it wasn't closed, it was either deleted or it wasn't approved by the mods/admins.

I must agree there with you Xenex, if it was only me I'd believe that. But a lot of guildies and alliance members (European alliance) are experiencing the same problems, even people who live in a completly different country.

Some time's it helps to turn everything for for a few seonds, even the router.

on another note this is still on network news on the GW main site

We have received reports that some European players recently have experienced latency issues and packet loss, particularly at times of peak European concurrency. The network teams are investigating this matter and hope to have the problem resolved as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we get this situation solved.

@ Xenex Xclame There is censorship here, seen it last night.

From what I've read, some people have had rubberbanding since the game came out.

I started playing soon after Factions came out, and never had any problems with it. Even when I was running all over Tyria, which is when I usually see it now myself.

But as soon as Nightfall came out, I was doing a run in Tyria and experienced it for the first time. Ran through a mob, was way past it, but still getting damage while out of agro range of anything. Used a skill that you have to stop to cast and BOOM teleported back to the group I had run through.

So for me, I've had varying problems with it ever since NF came out, where I had no problems with it before. This was on 2 different computers, in 2 different locations.

This is also when I started to see more and more threads about rubberbanding start to appear on the forums.

So while I'm sure that some of the people complaining are having problems with their PCs or with their net connection to ANet's servers, I'm also certain that the number of reports and with the complaints of the problem starting at the same time, that this is some kind of bug with the pathing logic of the game. You might notice this if you are running at an enemy (not targeting and hitting space bar, but just running) and then try to cast a targeted spell. You'll see your character jump a little bit before you cast.

For me it's not game breaking, just means I have to be more careful, and it makes certain choke points on various runs more...exciting.

The endless aggro bug was worse though. And ANet was finally able to identify and correct that problem. I hope that they will be able to improve this problem as well some day.

Yeah, I have had rubber banding since the game came out, but it was never very bad and usually pretty uncommon. But after the nightfall update it suddenly started happening all the time. Very annoying to say the least.

Not to mention since the NF update it seems the servers and the client get out of sync very easily. As you can be running somewhere and have no one around you but be taking damage then when you try to heal sig or something you get jumped back sometimes very far to a bunch of mobs that trapped you a while ago but you never knew it. >.<

I used to a lot of things in GW (run Elona Reach Mission, farming Root Behemoths in 'The Falls', any running really, and general playing of the game, I have 6 characters at various levels ( 4 @ L20, 1 @ L16 & 1 @ L8)) I can't do anymore because the 'Rubberbanding' problem has gotten so bad. My problems started after the update for the 'Triple Green Drop Weekend' (unplayable @ 27000ms and 30 sec + lag for the whole weekend) after the update on the Monday? it was a lot better but I still cannot enjoy many of the things I did before, anything that require split second timing or placement is out, as previous posters have said you can be miles past a mob and be transported right back into them & usually jammed in the middle with no way out....my 'Survivor' title Monk isn't coming anywhere near the game again until it's sorted out as it's way too risky, I hope they sort it out sooner rather than later....oh I play on the US Servers, usually when they've all gone to bed as I'm from Australia.

I had the same problem, it is probably when you connect the internet signal is weak and it cases the game to lag. When u lag the game doesn't recognize movement, making you "Ruberband"

Censorship? - what a load of clap trap, there is no conspiracy here. Anet have no say over the running of this site, and if anyone wants to challenge me on that feel free. You will lose.

This technical forum is for issues regarding hardware - not game realted bugs or issues.

I am sick and tired of people whining about this and that, unless you query is pc or hardware related, or problems getting the game to install or run then it will be closed.

We have always had an issue with lag and rubberbanding, we can do nothing aboUt it here, so that is why it is advised to log a support ticket.

Now I suggest you all grow up.

Rant over

Ah also this topic is closed
