Default Slow download rates

Hey Guys, I'm fairly new to the game having been recommend by a friend, and so far I'm enjoying it. However, when loading between different areas and updating files, I'm getting a ridiculously slow download rate. I have a 10mb cable connection, and I've checked with various other sites to make sure that I don't have any problems.

When loading between different areas, it seems to download the files at around 10kbs if I'm lucky. Any suggestions?

Update your game completely before you play by using this shortcut command:

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image

Otherwise you will continue to do it piecemeal whenever you explore new areas of the game.

Just don't forget to remove the -image command once you've downloaded everything else the game will close on it's own.

As for the 10kbs, it may come from something in your comp limiting the download rate for areas like a firewall checking every packet that you're receiving because my download rate usually gets higher than that and your connection is better than mine.

Turn off ye Security Suite. If you have one that is, there are a number of them that not only use stateful packet inspection but also scan incoming packets for viruses. Its beyond me why anyone would want that kind of protection. To be quite frankly honest all it does is reduce the performance of your system and your network connectivity.

I also believe that ArenaNet are throtting and/or giving client downloads low priority compared to other datas. So when the server you are connected to got many people online playing the game, you get slow download speed for the client datas.

I would at least set up the cluster, as those who are downloading can wait for the data, but those who are playing are in a constant need of updates for the game to run smoothly

edit: added something i forgot to write
