Default Repair install and save games

Just a quick question. I need to at least try a repair install on my game to try and fix a problem im having. If i do this though am i going to lose my characters? If it means i am going to lose my characters is there a way to make a back up of them? Thanks for the help.

Nope, you will be just fine, almost all data in GW is stored on the server, including characters, items, the whole gamut.

The only things that are stored on the HD are screen shots (obviously) and more importantly skill and weapon templates, which are saved as text files in the GW folder. Make sure to back those up just in case before attempting a repair on the game.

If you can, backup you Gw.dat file either by using an external hard drive if you have one or burning a DVD that way, you won't have to repair install and download everything you downloaded since the initial installation. Prevented me from downloading every update since nightfall came out when i had file corruption problem.

If reinstalling doesn't solve your problem and you have a friend that has GW, copy his Gw.dat file and replace the one on your computer by the copy of his file. Fixed a jumping NPC problem i had that repairing installation didn't fix.
