Default Having a Vista problem

I installed Vista yesterday and GW today.

The only problem that I am having is when new areas load. Sometimes the screen goes black for a second or two and sometimes I see my desktop with a black square in the middle of the screen.

Other than that, gameplay seems to be just fine.

Any ideas why I am getting this annoyance and what I can do to remedy the problem?

Thanks.

P.S. I should mention that I have 1 GB of RAM and a Nvidia 6600GT graphics card.

I had the exact same problem yesterday! I don't knw how my brother fixed it but it was quite bad. I wasn't even downloading anything as soon as I opened GW it did that.

It will most probably be a graphics driver issue, have a mess around with different versions, but first try the latest ones from nvidia.

make sure you remove the old driver before you install the newer / different one.

It's most probably a driver issue like it was mentioned above. I made sure to install the proper graphics drivers immediately after installing Vista, and I've had absolutely no problems with GW or other games (HL2, for example) on my 7700 go. I guess try to dig up compatible drivers or wait a little until NVidia updates their geforce drivers for vista :/.

I have the same thing on the latest drivers (100.65) and 8800GTS, but I don't care because I use windowed mode all the time.

You could also remove the driver and use the one within vista, that also may correct it

When I first installed Vista I did not install the latest Nvidia drivers because everything on my screen looked so good. After seeing my GW problem I then decided to install the Vista Nvidia drivers.

So with or without the latest Nvidia driver I have my GW problem.

Divine Soldier, what did your brother do to fix your problem?

Its not a problem, its something that has been around for over a year now and is well known, especially with some Nvidia cards and now its happening with some ATI cards, basically its the old information going and a slight gap before the new graphics information is loaded, nothing wrong, its just the graphics card, don't worry about it

It seems like problem with drivers. I have the same issue SINCE upgrading to Vista. It is not preventing me from playing, just minor annoyance.

It is a driver issue, but not a Vista issue...

The Driver manufacturers have had 5 yrs to get this going and dropped the ball totally

Personally, i love vista, I've had a 13% increase on my system over XP due to the Dual Core optimization, even over the XP optimizing I got a 7% increase, so there is a big difference!

Oh and it looks so much prettier

I have an 8800GTS on a Core2Duo 6600, but after having XP when it first came out, I don't trust Microsoft enough to install Vista until it's been out for at least 6 months.

I cant recommend VISTA either due to the driver issues croping up. They are becoming more prevailent as more people get VISTA. Until the manufactures get on the ball and release VISTA compliant drivers I say stay away from it.

I do like vista (I dual boot)... but lack of mature Vista driver's / lack of software support for my hardware.

Nvidia Drivers - can live with with current drivers

(Bad Spots for me)
Creative Labs - Audigy 2 ZS Drivers (Fix Q? 200X)
APC - UPS Mangement Software (Fix Q1 2007 -> Right now it thinks it's a laptop with a 5-10 min life span aka it freaks out on a slight brown out.

Misc software I own that I'm waiting for updated versions.
