Default Shadows in Cinematics?

Well, I've noticed in cinematics, characters don't have shadows. Why? IIRC, cinematic characters had shadows a few months ago, unless I'm cracking up.

Can anyone see shadows for characters in cinematics? Maybe it's just me? If it is just me, my specs:

Windows XP Pro
1GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 7800 GS OC 256MB
Intel Pentium 4 2.20GHz

Thanks. It's more of a peeve than a real problem. You'd be amazed how much more professional a game looks with shadows.

EDIT: I was right. Cinematics used to have shadows. I have this tiny thumbnail image left over from October 14, 2006 (according to the created/modified date).

did you set your shadow quality to high? Even if you set it to high, it only displays full shadows for people immediatly arround you... so it might jsut be where your character/camera is in relation to the people in cinematics

Yes, but in the old days I recall shadows appearing regardless of character/camera position (of course, as you know, shadows appear as they do on the medium setting until you get closer), but I'm saying the image above, nowadays, as an example, is without shadows, and the camera is close enough normally for shadows to be rendered as proven by this old image.
