You're sharing an account with your friend, which you were told not to do. You only got what you asked for. ANET will not replace any money/items lost no matter the circumstances. Chances are, either he gave out the password to other people, or he was using a 3rd party program.

Either way, chances are pretty high that your account was hacked. 3 pieces of armor is normal. one for superior vigor, one for superior whatever, death, healing, anything with a price really. They probably just salvaged the runes off and some didnt survive.

It's pretty obvious what happened, but like I said, no matter where you post or complain, your items will never, ever be restored, and you should safeguard your password better.

I have never been hacked in any game at any point in my life, so I don't quite get how some people can be so careless, it's not like I go crazy with caution, I'm just smart about what I do.

Perhaps they just wanted to mess things up for you? Not necessarily steal from you.

Sharing an account period is a recipie for trouble for starters. I'd seriously start by getting your own copy of GW so that you're the only one that knows the name/password.

Your account information is stored on Anet servers that I reasonably suspect are backed up and checked for problems regularly. I seriously doubt that it's a problem on Anet's end.

I would place the blame on either your friend, or on a surrepticious keystroke logger/virus/trojan that may have been downloaded and installed without your consent on your computer, or even your friend's computer. 3rd party programs for GW aren't the only programs that can sniff out account info.

That's always a possiblity. Check with your buddy and see if he's cranking you.

Default low level hacker

could be hacker who takes a little from a lot of accounts, thinking ppl will not notice

and i do not believe that ANET's servers are unhackable

when an email spam list shows a large number of sequential addresses from roadrunner, means that their servers were hacked

the more i think about this, the more i think that ANET may have been hacked ... thought i was missing a birthday present, and i share with no one

Anet is of course hackable. However, most of the problems (99%+) is due to the user him/herself being hacked. A typical computer user may not be wary of what is out there on the internet, and may download things thinking it's safe, but it's not. Hell, even simple mp3 files that you download through programs may contain loggers.

What does that mean? You lent this to a friend or a friend lent the account to you? Either way I can't help thinking that's the problem. To be honest I'm pretty sure it is the problem. Even if you're sure that you don't have keyloggers, you're friend might on his/her PC which transmitted the log-in info to the alleged hacker.

Lastly, have you registered on any guild forums with your log-in E-mail and the same (or similar) password? That's been known to cause account disruption and theft in the past.

Good luck.
