Default 2 users side by side-microphone recommendations

Alright, this question is more of a "I'm in need of some general recommendations" thread than a question.

I'm sure out there somewhere there are people playing that are in the same situation as I am. My boyfriend and I play GW side by side on (obviously) two computers and we have been running voice chat using the same mic for both of us. We would like to have separate mics so that our voices are easily picked up...because right now we have a hard time positioning it just right to make sure those on the other side can hear us.

So, any recommendations on microphone headsets or mic/headphone combinations that have good sound pickup but help block background noise? Basically we'd like to each have our own connection to the voice chat so it's easier for us to talk to players without the other's voice getting picked up all the time on our mic. I figure those mics that are on headbands will be the best since naturally the mic is closer to your mouth and will pickup your voice easily..and hopefully cancel out the other one's voice. Anyway, I've been reading reviews and was just hoping to get the opinion of someone who's already got this setup or is in a similar situation. Thanks in advance!

p.s. Also open to good standalone mic suggestions that will pickup BOTH of our voices on one mic well, from about 3-4ft max away. Also that will not pickup the ambient noise from GW coming from our desktop speakers.
Any advice?

I'd recommend the headband setups for a few reasons:

1. This way both you and your b/f have a separate mic and you're not competing over it.

2. Separate headphones prevent background noises from either computer from being picked up over one, shared mic.

3. I'd also recommend that you'd setup a key as a "Push-to-Talk" instead of setting up the voice chat client to automatically transmit. This prevents background noises, or either one of you from accidentally activating the other's voice communication client.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for your reply yes that helps a lot! Any suggestions on specific mic headsets that you like? Such as brands, models, etc?

Thanks I hadn't thought of this. Easier solution than just hoping that the mic doesn't pick up conversations or noise it shouldn't.
I wonder what key would be best that GW doesn't already use?

I'm not sure what you have available near you, but Logitech makes solid headsets for gaming. Don't buy the low-end model, try to get at least the second tier model and it should work great for you.

Most people use the sid ebutton on the mouse. If you have a really old mouse that doesn't have these buttons, the left Shift or Alt keys work well.

Thumbs up Thanks

Alright thanks for the good advice, the left shift key doesn't really have any use (besides to capitalize letters lol) maybe that or the caps lock would work. I have major retailers in my city, and lots more only a half hour away. I usually end up ordering all my pc parts from TigerDirect anyway, or NewEgg, I'll look on there for reviews of products and look into Logitech. Thanks guys!!
