Default Random Freeze every 5-10 min

I'm having lots of Game random Freeze ups sometimes like every 10 min or so about 5-7 times in like a 2 hour game play time, I could even just be standing in a town and BAM! Froze, all i can do is just restart system, just for it to happen again a couple min later, I can't even do Missions without a freeze up, but when I restart system it will reconnect me back to where I left off , most times (in Missions) its also hard to Run anyone now because of random freezes.

What is up, Here is what I'm on - AMD AthlonXP 2000+ 1.67 GHz,512RAM,
MB (AU13) -
NVIDIA 6600/256,Driver 93.71
On Board sound (NFORCE_VAD)
(Driver 6.14.0442.0030)

Need some feedback plz.

Thats alot of quality your trying to pull out of that system.
Use the lowest settings you can and defragment your computer ASAP.
That should help.

Yeah, good question. Your computer shouldn't freeze just because you have the quality cranked up. It might run slowly, but it shouldn't freeze. Freezing (locking up, hanging, etc.) means you have a problem. A fragmented hard disk shouldn't cause lock-ups either.

@Zero: Does your computer restart, or does it just freeze and you have to manually restart it? Do you get a blue screen error (i.e., a STOP message)? Also, did this just start happening? Was there ever a time when games didn't lock up on you, and what has changed since then?

well awhile back i was running a NVIDIA 5600 and same other on rest of system ran just fine, The Freeze up has no sound just freeze and have to manually restart, once in great while it will restart itself to a blue screen, This problem is actually after a system reformat it worse before, Before it would freeze with a sound loop, now it just freezes(no Sound),other change recently was i remove my old old old SB16,and went with the onboard sound. Oh and i have turned down the settings.

We have two thread topics with different approaches to tackling/discussing/figuring out the cause of game freeze issue. Please feel free to contribute your thoughts in one of those thread topics if your problem is related.
=========================================

Now, how long has this issue been occurring? Since before the last major update? Or, are you a new player?

Give us some details on when this problem first happened and if it's a new development.

If it is the same issue as the other 2 threads, we need to focus our discussions.
