Default Defective Computer?

I recently got a Gateway Laptop MT6707. When I booted it up, it stated that there wasn't an audio driver installed. I tried finding one online to install, but so far I've found nothing. This was when I first started the computer, so I figured it was defective. What should I do, should I return the computer as defective and try to get it replaced or should I try to find a driver?

The CD only works if it deletes everything on the computer, which I can't do quite yet.

Gateway.com will have the drivers for your machine... but you have to stick in either the product number or the serial number and it will find drivers accordingly. If you can't find them there... you can always stick the recovery disc in but cancel out the recovery message it gives you. (you're sticking the disc in with the computer already on) You can then double click my computer... right click your dvd/cd drive and hit explore... search for folders named 'drivers'... it could be named something else too...

Gateway.com is the best place though. If you just bought the machine and can't find any driver, take it back to the place you bought it and either make them return it for a new one or find you that drive at no charge -- they should come fully installed.

RinLan is correct. It is one of the few good things about Gateway. They have an interface that emulates the Microsoft Update one.

If you still have problems after visiting their site, post here and we can get the direct links for you.

Thanks all, I just exchanged the computer. I'll let you know if I experience problems on the new one.
