Default Dx 10

Maybe GW2 will have DX10... regardless here is a quote from Microsoft's website:

Quote:
The Cascades demo allows consumers with NVIDIA GeForce 8-series graphics cards and Windows Vista to experience stunning Direct X 10 graphics features on their computers for the first time.
Does this mean that DX 10 will work with any card from the GeForce 8500 GT and up?!! Sweet! Because most people have been saying thats its just the 8800.

Any 8XXX card and up will support DX10.
At the moment it looks like GW2 will support both DX9 and DX10 through seperate engines according to Jeff Strain.

I dunno, I was just answering the questions and adding my $0.02, however the OP did seemingly want to know if an 8500 would run DX10, so yeah, that could be relevant.

I think GW2 may *support* dx10 but have dx9/8 fall back support as well.

Gaile has quoted the developers desire to have GW playable on the *most* computers systems possible.

Yeah by the time GW2 come out, there will be games that use DX10, Crisis, Alan Wake, Unreal 3. So upgrade to a new card will make a lot more sense and by then Nvidia might have a series 10 card out on the market. So the price for the series 8 will be much cheaper. Anyway you've got 2 years! start saving.

GW2 better not be Vista-only. I love the series, but I wouldn't suffer through the bad OS that is Vista even for this great game.

GW2 Vista only?Heck no!
Besides DX10 is not that great yet. Maybe in GW2 they will have an option for it.I hope so because I plan on upgrading ASAP!

Yup, Gaile already stated that GW2 will support DX9 and DX10...it will most likely be a situation similar to the way GW supports DX8 and DX9. People with DX9 hardware can play, and people with DX10 hardware will be treated to more eye candy and better performance.

It sounds like it won't be Vista only. It's two years away, folks, why even worry about it right now? Two years is a long time in the computer gaming world.

Incidentally, ATI's HD 2900 series video cards are supposed to be available the second half of May 2007. The whole lineup supports Direct 3D 10.

The only benchmarks I've seen have the HD 2900 XL (MSRP $399) completely demolishing nVidia's 8800GTS.
