I remember losing some progress the last time the boardwalk was here, but no problems this time. Have had my character afk for like 15 hours with no problem.

@ Polgara Darshiva a rollback is the entire game not individuals.

we have had that one big rollback when everybody was of for the better part of a day.

stop spewing rollback rumors when the game was not rolled back and wait until they actually can find what is wrong and fix it.
People's accounts were reverted back 2-8 hours. That to me under any deffinition is a roll back, not a bug.

It's very possible that since their last game wide roll back they learnt from their mistakes and don't need to roll back the entire world and inconvenience everybody. It's very likely that only people playing on certain servers where there might have been an exploit had their accounts rolled back.

Somebody already mentioned that there might have been an exploit with cupcakes in the arena(s). Can anybody else confirm this?

It's nothing to with being AFK or playing ring games - I don't waste my time on those and it happened to me.

As I said earlier, I left the room for a couple of minutes to answer the door. I'd just been at the merchant and then to Xunalai - when I came back, I'd been rolled back a couple of minutes (the stuff I'd just merched was back in my inventory). I know it was only a couple of minutes, because I'd only just farmed that stuff. Some bug or fault caused some us to be rolled back, apparently to whatever state we were at, at the last time we "zoned" - which could be almost no loss or several hours, if you were AFK'ing.

please check with the experts.

they (programmers/head of development/etc) stated that the way the code is designed at the very foundation of the game you cannot alter an individual account.

remember the last time you got stuck somewhere and minutes later you were running along with no enemy in sight and taking damage?

suddenly you snapped way back to where you got stuck and all that distance you thought you traveled never happened.

maybe some glitch like that but on a longer timeline since there was nothing to interrupt it.

but they do not have the ability to alter single accounts.

or that's just the line they feed us so that every second person doesn't hassle them to roll something back on their account.

if you honestly believe that we can agree to disagree.

i personally believe the people who stated that even before the game was out.

good day/night/whatever it is where you are.

GW keeps track of all your items, money, armor, etc. All that info has to be stored in a file somewhere on their servers. I find it very hard to believe that they can not edit this individual file to reflect whatever they want. I believe they tell us that they cant do this so everyone doesnt ask for a roll back cuz they sold something they didnt want to to the merchant, salvage something on accident etc.

They can they just choose not to.

I lost around 8 hours of progress today. When I left the computer I as at 24k tickets one and 1200 or so tickects lost. When I get back to my computer 5-6 hours later the game is at he character selection screen. I go back in, check the titles, and I am down to 800 tickets won, 200 lost. Thanks Anet. Great weekend.

Oh yeah, I am not on a Euro server either. American.

Yeah... because this is quite obviously just account rubber banding?

You think thats an actual explanation... jesus, more evidence to support the individual rollback theory than the bullshit you're spouting. You actually expect us to believe that certain peoples progress while standing still just happened to get rolledback just because you assume that its impossible?

We know DAMN WELL they can alter accounts. Test Server title shots prove that. Just because they say 'they only work in the Test Server' doesn't mean its true.

Just lost 8k lucky title. Was in International 1, this El Barko Rollback guy kept threatening to roll back, err7, crash....whatever you want to call it. He and this Fox Live person would argue, then El Barko Rollback would say, OK leave now or get crashed!, 2 seconds later, it would err7 straight back to character select screen.

After going back to International D1 again, El Barko Rollback seemed to do it again and again, So I finally gave up, went to American District 38, and have been fine since. Still missing my 8k worth of Lucky.

Anet...why does this seem to happen every festival? What gives?

I lost about ~4k tickets won...not much but it still is something. American servers.... VERY uncool Anet, this happened to me last time the area was open too. Happy birthday indeed. Our gift is losing money, time and tickets.

i spent all friday roller beatle raceing, then bought 20k worth of tickets and left it afking in 9 rings while i slept..i wrote down my lucky title, and it was at 24,572 points when i went to bed, woke up around 5 am and checked it on my way to to the head and my game was on the character select screen....so i loged back in and wrote down my points at 25,372, and went back to bed... woke up for the day around 9 and my game was on the character select screen again, and my points were 25,333 - and the 20k in tickets were all gone, along with the money not returned to me.

stuff happens, i'm sure it was a server hic-cup or something and i'm not going to get my feathers ruffeled up over it, with claims that A-net did something intentional - obviously obtaining the luky title through 9-rings was designed to be an afk title. it doesn't benifit them to make a game that rewards afkers, only to use it to attack afkers.

did you check your unlucky title? the game is, of course, supposed to be random, and results are not guaranteed...

When you say wrote down... do you mean screenies by any chance because what your saying is that you logged in again before doing anything else checking and it was set at 25,372. It then had a negative of 39 to reach 25,333 when you next logged in again.

Didn't see this mentioned, but this was from another Gaile visit i was able to attend a few hours ago:

I also forgot to add these comments:
"The bug was related to a crash of Dragon's Nest. It is fixed now"
"If there is a crash, the most you will lose is 5 minutes"
(referring to after the bug fix)

so it looks like the Anit-AFK is for something else (a future plan for leachers?)

afker here...but not by choice.

I got busy with other things around the house and forgot I had left my game to go upstairs to get something. When I did that, I got busy...and I didn't come back for about 11 hours (worked for about 7 hours, then sat down on the couch upstairs to watch some TV on the HDTV for about 4 hours). When I came back down stairs I fully expected to see my game sitting at the login screen...or very little progress made on my titles while working on Rings of Fortune (working on Unlucky title).

I came back to my character still standing on the rings...with 5 stacks less of tickets and my progress towards Unlucky went from about 6,000 games of chance lost to about 9300. I would say the problems with err7 and rollbacks are connection problems that people are having to the servers, and nothing that Anet is doing. Your character is simply rubber banding or losing it's connection without the client realizing it. Then when the client actually does realize it lost it's connection....it gets updated server data or err's out. When the person logs back in they see the data from when they lost a connection. Which could be several hours worth.

In summary...quit blaming your connection problems on something Anet is doing intentionally. They are obviously not out to try to ruin the fun of people playing the game...however they play it. If they wanted to make sure people didn't afk the rings they would insert code to kick you out after a couple hours or a few minutes of being afk which they haven't done since people can obviously stay on much longer than a couple hours.

Now while the problem isn't something that is caused by Anet's actions...it is a problem that Anet needs to address...rollbacks and err7's due to connection issues that cause you to lose progress. Obviously there's a big enough issue to cause a lot of people to be affected by it. It seems to affect people the most when there are large concentrations of people in districts, such as for the boardwalk games.
