Default new sound effects + vent = god mode

any time I go into an area underground or would have an echo ie sunspear sanctuary or relm of torment my vent gets a echo (everyone sounds like the voice of god) out side those areas no problem what so ever

Go into your options menu (f11), then go to the 'sound' tab.

Make sure that the 'Use 3D Audio Hardware' box isn't checked.

I had something similar with an old SoundBlaster Live! sound card. I've been looping FM radio through my PC and back to the amplifier, so that I have both radio and game sound over the same set of speaker. Funnily enough, I experienced the same effect as you describe with the radio sound. News speakers would sound like they were right there in the Sunspear Sanctuary with my GW char.

I didn't find a solution for the problem, other than disabling the sound card and using the on-board sound from the motherboard instead. With that, the game sound has it's special effects while the radio remains unchanged. I assume it's a property/feature/bug/whatever you wanna call it of the audio driver.

Try to open your 'Control Panel' then open 'Creative Audio Console' and select the 'EAX Effects' tab. Set the effect used to none.
I think thats where the problem is...
Take a quick check on your mixer as well, and make sure recording isnt set to 'What you hear'.
But I'm 99% that it is EAX using some effect.
