Turning off your computers defenses to play a game is dumb.
How long has this been going on? you updated your modem drivers/firmware? have you made sure you haven't set GW to blocked?

There is issues with this router working on Vista. If you have Vista, look for new drivers. If that fails contact Netgear support.

Guild Wars has been having problems with netgear routers for a while. There are solutions in the support section accessible from the GW website. There was a thread on this also on this forum but i can't seem to find it anymore.

The reason that it happens is that Guild Wars needs unrestricted access to TCP port 6112, and Netgear routers do not, by default, allow it do so.
NCSoft has a page specifically dealing with this issue. Please follow this link:
http://www.plaync.com/us/support/doc_2607.html?prod=48
If you need further explanation or support, you will need to contact NCSoft and/or Netgear to get the workaround.

I understand that, but port triggering on a router doesn't take effect right away - It waits for a certain amount of traffic to flow through a certain port through a given period of time, then the router shuts down your internet connection thinking that your computer is under attack. This is evidenced by the fact that GW runs for a little bit, then you lose your internet entirely.
Please follow the above posted link for further assistance, or contact NCSoft support and/or Netgear for information on how to disable port triggering for port 6112. This should fix your problem.

You will need to read the manual that came with your router to get where you need to to access your port triggering settings.
Here's a link to NCSoft's support site that kinda talks about where you'll need to go: http://www.plaync.com/us/support/doc_2607.html?prod=48
If you're still having problems getting access to your routers settings to configure your port triggering, you will need to contact Netgear. Their website is at http://www.netgear.com.
Closed thread as there's nothing more we can do here for you on this site.
