Default ATI 9800 Pro problem

I downloaded the newest drivers from ATI last night. I uninstalled the drivers that I had and installed the drivers I had just downloaded. Windows required a reboot, which I did. Then after I had the preferences set where I want them (refresh rate, resolution) .. I then ran guild wars and Guild Wars ran just fine.

I shut down .. and went to bed. Today I booted up the computer, and ran guild wars, now it says:

==================
Unable to initialize 3D output. Please verify that you have installed DirectX 8 and an updated video driver.

I thought ok maybe the directx got messed up when i updated the video drivers. So i went to microsoft and updated direct x .. that installed just fine.

still no go.

has anyone else seen this problem?
any ideas of how to fix this?

Try the catalyst uninstaller, then install the latest video drivers once more.

I didn't notice your response. But a little while ago I used that add/remove programs utility in windows to uninstall the catalyst drivers and (after reboot) i reinstalled the drivers, everything works ok now.

Thanks for your response though.
