Default Connection problems (cannot patch)

The title says most of it, but for clarification, I get stuck here:

I have no firewalls, have tried to reinstall (with no success). This happened after I took a 2 month break from GW. Any help is appreciated.

Are you using a router? Also, what programs are running in your system tray by the clock?

Yes, I use a netgear router, but GW has worked with it before. As for programs that might interfere, the only ones I could think of would be spybot SD, and AVG, although the active protection on AVG is off, as I'm using the free version.

Do you have tea timer or whatever running, an optional install feature of spybot? Also, make sure SPI firewall is disabled on the router.

Well i'd rule out the possibility of teatimer since teatimer prevents installing the patch, not downloading it usually. GW has some issues with netgear routers though, some solutions are on the plaync question database. It's accessible from the support page on the GW website.

lol, sorry, I must be getting tired or something.

But yea, I would recheck the router's settings to see if SPI firewall somehow got re-enabled under the WAN setup configuration.

Teatimer was on, but disabling it did not help. As for checking my router...I doubt anything got enabled, but Il check it in a little bit.
