Default White box player/NPC!

Hey, just started up GW and noticed that there was one player running around with a white box instead of his character. He ran away before I had the chance to take the screen but then I turned my back and noticed this henchman:

What is this?

*EDIT*

I started up GW this just and now the window popped up: "Repairing data archive", what the ...?

The white box is a placeholder that's only used when the game client's unable to find the 3d model it needs. Since you got the "repairing data archive" message your gw.dat must be corrupted. If you keep seeing white boxes after it's done or it starts repairing the archive again your gw.dat may be broken beyond repair, just delete gw.dat to get a new one.

If you can't stand the long loading times you'll get with an incomplete gw.dat you can download the full file by running the client with the parameter "-image" (no quotes), though this may take a few hours.

Yeah, your Gw.dat file is corrupted. As said previously, if the repairing data archive didn't solve your issues, then delete your Gw.dat file and reinstall. I suggest making a backup of your Gw.dat file once it's workin it'll avoid long downloads in the future.

Before you reinstall GW, you can try to uninstall your old graphice card driver first. Then get a fresh new driver for whatever your card is, ATI, Nvidia. Sometime its just a small thing that gone wrong, if that doesn't work then reinstall is the best option.

Sorry to bump this topic again, but I just got the same problem again just a moment ago...

I haven't reinstalled GW like you guys recommended me. Do you think a full reinstall should really fix this problem? The game is now repairing the data archive AGAIN.

Your dat file is badly damaged. It wouldn't fix the white box since you are getting the repairing data constantly. The best bet is to get a brand new dat file.
You could install it from your disc as well if you don't wish to wait that long. The disc (NF) provide you with ~1.4GB of data where you only need to dl the other 1+GB of data.

I did a reinstall this weekend. With the NF disk you only need to download about 250mb.
