Curse

I've looked over the posts in this forum, and although I see a few sound problems, I don't see mine. This has been happening for a few months now. A while back I tried installing new drivers, reinstalling game, etc. and couldn't track down the problem. Before I go in search again, I figured I would ask the experts.

While I am playing, occasionally, I will get sound effect loops, lasting sometimes 10 seconds, sometimes until I reload the game. I don't have this problem with any other game. It's random and can't be "user created". Any ideas?

My comp's stats:
Windows Xp Pro, 5.1
Motherboard= A7n8X2.0
AMD Athlon 3200+ @2.2Ghz
1024MB Ram
DirectX 9.0c
Video=Radeon X1950 Pro 256 MB DDR
Sound= Original SoundBlaster Audigy Gamer

I know the sound card is old, 3 or 4 years. But works fine in every other game, and suits me fine.. But, I feel it's probably the problem. Is it not capable of keeping up?
