Question What would happen If i were to compress GW.dat file??

It might be a little slow in loading, as it would have to decompress gw.dat before it loaded an area, but depending on your system and connection quality, you may not notice much difference.

Since it looks like it's mostly a binary file with very few repeating sequences I doubt it would get much smaller.

Sure it would get smaller, but the real question is: has anet already compressed the file in some format that works well with the client so the file doesn't take too much space. If that's the case i doubt that compressing the file would make it a lot smaller, might also make the game slower since you have to decompress.
