Could someone explain me why gwguru pages are loading so slowly ???? I have a PIV 3.2 ghz + 2 GO memory + Firefox (ABP installed) + XP + Bitdefender.

My PC is fast & furious except when I log on GWGURU

For instance to swap from page 1 to 2 (from the same topic) takes 30 secs or even more.....

Welcome to the Intarweb ... Where your PC specs have nothing to do with how fast the page loads.

It's because there is over 2,000 people browsing the boards right now. The server is only slow with all these people. I have no problems in the morning when there are fewer people.

Guru's always been like this since I can remember. Just be thankful it loads cuz sometimes it won't load at all, especially at peak hours.

because they cram all their other game sites onto one server and they have a lousy datacenter/database server

There are lots of visitors and the server has not enough capacity to handle all the requests from time to time. A solution could be to get the database running on a faster or dedicated server, but this requires time money and quite a bit of work, and I guess one or more of these factors is scarse with the owners of this site, so they did not make the neccessary improvements yet.

I went to that link and no where does it say that paying for a membership will help speed up this slower then snot server.

Maybe if they change that link so that it says, every membership helps us with needed funds to speed up the server, more people would sign up.

I wouldn't want to pay money every month on a slow website I had difficulty using and had no idea if they had any plans on improving it, just so I could have no adds and some more PM storage.
