Angry What The Hell Is This!?

How do I fix it?! T__T
I was just playing and then it starts doing this.
Come back to it the next day and now it's doing it on the intro screen.

Wow, thats, ummm...creepy.

Is it only the video that is broken or is it also the sound? And what about that program running next to Guild Wars at the bottom, maybe it is interfering with the game. It also seems like the game is stuck between in-game and the main Windows page.

Sorry couldn't have been more help, I'm not much of a techie but I'm just throwing out some ideas to try and help you.

Yep it does look like something is seriously wrong with the card. But it could as well be a corrupted video driver, try a clear driver uninstall from the control panel, reboot then install a new fresh driver (nvidia or ati?) and see if that will work.

Falling that check the card itself if the onboard fan still working, if not replacing the fan might fix it. If the worst come, you can sent it back to repair if it still validate. Lastly get a new card.

Your worst case scenario would be if the agp/pci-e slot on the mainboard itself is damage.

Your video card is dead. Hope it's under warranty. My cursed 7900GT started doing that (among other things) right before I had to RMA it.

Downloading a Forceware update for my NVIDIA card.
Hoping that updating the graphics driver will fix the prob rather than buying a new card.
Thanks guise. Will update as to whether the update works <3

Ive had the same issue on an old video card. the problem was never resolved. Its not driver related thats for sure.

From my experience, your video card is either overheating or is damaged

Well it happened to me (video card overheated - nVidia 5700 )

Went and got a replacement card till I got a new one, and it was an ATI 7000

Shit. That's exactly what I have, NVIDIA 5700.
Maybe they don't like GuildWars?

Updating the Driver didn't work. My Dad has "no idea" as to how to fix it, meaning he doesn't care (stupid computer techie.)
I really don't want to have to pay for a new video card!!! T__T
Meanwhile, the computer claims that "this device is working properly."

Try here http://www.pricewatch.com/video_cards/ see if theres one you like. Video cards arent too expensive for a good one now.

Me too and I had to get a new one, mine heated. My desk is in a cabinet that can be closed (cats) and I was leaving the computer on for extended periods with it closed. I don't do that anymore.

Squalus, you don't think he would have noticed if his monitor was cracked? No, it doesn't burn, but it does over heat.

Afraid that's a sign of doom regarding your video card.

My nVidia FX 5700 died just like that, I was able to limp along for a while by lowering the resolution and color depth but it got worse and worse over time (2 weeks).

Currently have Radeon x1300 and am very happy because it was affordable and a nice upgrade from my old card.

Default Video Cards

Alright

Disregarding prices, what's the best video card?
Best brand?

May as well get something pretty spec. It'll be my money I'm spending, and not my parents

8800ultra sli will be the best card disregarding price, and each is north of $600 dollars

Care to give us some specification of your motherboard, and what chipset and what CPU you are using? and whether your motherboard supports AGP or PCI-Express? As much info as possible helps people here give you an idea of what is the best graphics card you can get. Your budget would help too. Does that only happen in GW or all the time (the first picture I mean) and when and how does it happen?

8800gtx

The 8800 ultra is better, but the extra 10% performance it gives isn't worth the extra money, not like you will notice it in GW anyway.

Technically, the 8800 Ultra Superclocked is the fastest, faster then the Ultra. Now I believe you can get the 8800 Ultra black pearl edition from EVGA thats clocked faster then the 8800 Ultra Superclocked, but it comes with a VGA water block, not a fan, so you need a water cooling system as it was ment to be used.

I love EVGA products, you pay a bit more for them, but they are the fastest
