Default Freezing at login screen

I'm posting this for my friend, who can't get in GW past the login screen without everything freezing up (think of a screenshot of the login screen with no sound or mouse/keyboard input). The only option is to hit the reset button on the case. The longest he's ever been on was about 10 seconds until complete freeze up.

I had him show me a dxdiag report and everything looks good. He just built the computer so it's a pretty fresh install. All drivers are up to date and correct. Any game OTHER than GW runs beautifully!

Any ideas?

I had the same problem with a machine of mine.. everything seemed fine but as soon as GW started it would last for a few seconds before complete machine lock up. The solution for me turned out to be the setting of the memory speed multiplier in the bios. Even tho my memory was 333Mhz it was not running at a 1:1 ratio. Once i set it back to the 1:1 ratio it was only running at 266Mhz but low and behold my problem disappeared and GW ran beautifully. Tell him to go into his bios and set it to fail safe and check the timing on the memory.
