Hi, I'm looking to buy a new, high-end gaming pc online because I can get much better bang for my buck. I would appreciate a list of good quality, well priced (I am a student, but have a budget of ~3200), and, most important, reputable/dependable online stores to buy this at. I would prefer ones where I can custom build, and available to/based in Canada. Thanks for any help and the bigger the list, the better!

Well, ebay has a suprisingly extensive list of computers, especially gaming towers. You'd be sprised how much trade is going on in there. Also, that topic I created in here, somene replied with some good specs if you don't know what to look for.

You should go to alienware.com and customize an Area-51 7500. Gaming PCs aren't cheap though. Just make sure you add 2 GB of ram or more, a good power supply, a good graphics card, and good processor.

Stay away from Alienware and their parent company Dell, infact stay away from any mass-produced PC's! Alienware are nothing but expensive POS wrapped up in a nice plastic box.

Do yourself a favour and build your own, in the end you'll get a way better specced PC for less money. Plus, you've built it yourself so when the time comes for upgrading there's no last minute surprises waiting for you.

The problem with that is the average person has no idea how to build their own computer. Plus, it's less cash only looking at it from a hardware point of view. Most people also need software if you need it to be more than just for gaming only. An Operating System such as Vista $200-$300, Nero $77.99, Microsoft Office $100-$399.99, anti-virus, etc. etc. etc. Unless you plan to pirate all of that illegally, it all adds up on top of the cost of the hardware. That's why some gaming PCs on ebay are so dirt-cheap. They give you everything but the software, then the sellers turn around and tell you that you need to buy all that separately from them.

Its really not that hard to build your own computer. There exist online communities who can teach people to build their own rigs. If the person is so concerned about programs, they could just use Open Office, AVG antivirus, Spybot S&D, Comodo Firewall ect.

It may be ghetto, but at least I saved myself a lot of cash. Half the programs you don't really need. You can avoid most PC problems by not going to shady sites, being behind a hardware firewall (e.g. routers), and running a secure browser (Opera).

If your unsure of the proceedures of building your own computer, go to youtube or google video. There are alot of videos that will display these proceedures step by step which will facilitate your work.

I found many of these videos a long time ago looking for something else.

As for online stores, www.newegg.com is good if you live in the US.

Thanks for all the info so far. If any1 has any specific experience with any store/seller (I bought from X, and would recommend or not because...) that would be great.
