I have experienced problems lately, highly noticable during the GW:EN preview.

Whenever I run my game in full screen, when the game has to download new files, it seems to download them one at a time. When I'm playing in windowed, it doesn't, however, I enjoy playing in full screen, without the bars, and things in place. My UI is set how I like it in full screen.

I'll give you an example, I had to load 12 files for a primary quest in the new event, I probably sat there for several minutes loading those few files. Another moment, I went to a new area with my friends, I had to load around, say 50 files. My girlfriend had called me askiing if I had lagged out, which wasn't the case. Instead, I figured I had frozen up, so I restarted, tried again. Same thing. Restarted and ran the program again, in windowed and it loaded all the files in a matter of seconds or less. I am simply annoyed!

Any suggestions? My RAM is set to 2 GB, so that couldn't be the case. My hard drive is nearly empty, since defragging for me takes a matter of 8 seconds to 5 minutes. My computer, I'm positive is virus free. Suggestions?

use the -image command line to download everything before playing the game. That will not solve the problem in itself, but you won't have to download any new files. http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Command_line for a tutorial on command lines and how to use them.

I believe I have fixed the problem. I uninstalled the game, downloaded the client, and let it load normally the first time in full screen to determine how long it took. It had to load 19,000+ files when I had to login, and it did it at a decently fast speed. I used the '-image' command, and it seems to work. I shall know for sure once GW:EN comes out.

Further more, I use a defragger that organizes my files into an order called 'UltimateDefrag.' However, it still locates 'gw.dat,' even after I uninstalled the game. That's not a good thing...I'm sure.
