sigh... comcast-- I also just tried defragging the gw.dat file-- no effect

well the upside is- wait- is there an upside?

I am wondering if it is a fix that needs to be done w anet, or if comcast support will have any ideas-- I am assuming it is something Anet needs to deal with - the comcast ppl are unlikely to talk turkey about software....

Yes. We're narrowing down the problem, that's the upside. Then we have to either beat Comcast with sticks or wait. XD

I guess the upside is we are getting the problem down to a smaller area: Oregon -> NW -> Comcast. Now... What to do besides wait for ANet? :O

Ahh Mav post the same thing at the same time more please :P (Or maybe I'm just a slow typer because yours came up a minute earlier) Anyways, hope we all get this fixed. I guess it's time to go watch monk and psych then send a ticket into Support at some point :P

Tigard, Oregon and having the exact same problems as all of you as well. I managed to get in for several hours earlier (a miracle!) and my ping was not too bad. Last night when I was unable to enter explorable areas I switched to Euro districts and was able to enter them after that. Stayed in Euro servers while I was playing this evening, but when I tried going to my Guild hall it went back to that evil 005 or 058.

Huh, it's not showing my last post where I say I have Comcast, so please forgive me if I am double posting. Also hubby is wondering what Operating Systems everyone is using, and whether or not you're behind routers?

I'm behind a Linksys router using Windows XP.

I already tried connecting directly to the modem but that didn't work.

@Telomir: Huh, I should try that.

Windows XP, also using Comcast, and no router.

And to one of the posters above, each time the announcements aren't there I get the 005 or 058 code. When the announcements show, I can get to the character select screen and *almost always* into the game. That's the one thing that is really making me believe it's a GW problem.

I just noticed, I am not getting the announcements window either sometimes. I firmly believe it's a GW issue. Not a comcast issue. As I am able to access everything else online including Counter Strike Source.

Comcast, Windows XP, linksys router. I also believe it's a GW issue... but it is very odd that it's all people in the NW Oregon area. Must be the server connection to this area somehow. I just hope its fixed soon!

Me too. I'm in Portland and on Comcast. Maybe while they were screwing w/ bit torrent users they screwed w/ guild wars players too.

Ah I am reporting that I was able to continually open and close GW until I got the annoucnement window to pop up. Once I was able to log onto my character I switched over to European servers (which are completely empty by the way as it seems everyone is using American servers now) and my husband and I are able to play with out problems for the time being.. and no lag. Go Euro!

EDIT: Hmm I take that back, I am spiking to 1k+ pings and hubby keeps getting the download icon in his ping status bar thingy. .... Interesting...

I'm on the international servers and have been playing for about a half hour. I've zoned several times to different places and it all runs as normal. :3

I've pointed both Comcast and NCSoft support at this thread. The Comcast people said that a fix from their side wouldn't be happening tonight, but that they do have technicians working 7 days a week, so tomorrow is a possibility. He said that I was not the only person that he had heard from with this problem in my area.

Excellent- TYTY for bringing it to everyone's attn. I also have had luck getting 1 (one) character loaded to an int dist. Everything is going fine, but I don't dare try to go to the GH....

If anyone notices a change, pls POST!

Guess it seems to be people in Oregon having this problem no problems here in FLORIDA.

This morning, it seemed to be working fine; haven't errored while zoning, going into obs, or gh. Announcement box has always been there, lets just hope it keeps working!

Seems to be working just fine still, hopefully that means something happened on one of the ends and its all fixed!
