Unhappy Wierd BSOD problem

Here's one for you, for 3 days now I've had a problem starting or signing into Guild Wars.

Been happily play for nearly 6 weeks now and been merrily playing on my super duper new XP Dual Core 2Gb machine I got 3 weeks ago

On Sat morning for no apparent reason, I started getting Blue Screen Of Death when signing into Guild Wars.

After hours of System Restore, Driver Updates etc, the problem persists.
If I double-click the GW icon, my machine immediately goes to BSOD and reboots

Now the wierd bit, if I sign in on my wife's XP profile, I can happily play for hours, as I did last night

The second wierd bit is that I only get BSOD with Guild Wars nothing else and after the OS tries to send an error report to MicroSoft, the MS website says my error report is corrupt. Yet if I look at EventMgr, the BSOD error details and there

Any ideas ? I'll post the error details when I get home this evening. Great website and forums btw,

Many thanx in advance

odd indeed.

add the -repair switch to you GW shortcut, perhaps it will help. (remember to remove after repair lol)
or a re-install of Gw?

I had a similar issue before where I couldn't get installers to run in my profile, but they'd run fine in a test profile I set up. It turns out that another program was interfering with the whole system

If you can load GW on your wife's profile, then there's a program or app on your profile that is interfering with windows/GW to the point it'll BSOD on you. YOu'll have to sit down and see what apps you loaded on your profile versus hers.

The other thing you can do is run MSCONFIG from Start --> Run and go through the startup items and uncheck the ones that aren't critical (things like stuff from itunes, 3rd party apps, etc.).

Also, when the computer BSOD's, it should give you a 0x error number. Make a note of that number and google it to see what you get.

Default Stopped auto reboot

Hi guys, thanx for hints/help.

I turned off the auto reboot and the BSOD say something about IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal......wtf ???

The system error was 1000000a, parameter1 00000016, parameter2 0000001c, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 80502392.

I googled the error code, got 1 reply that was only available as a premium service.

Gonna try the Msconfig route next only when I googled the IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal I got everthing from a dogy motherboard to a buggy device driver.

As Arnie said, I'll be back

Default The saga continues

Hi folks, didn't even get to comparing the startups or apps !!

XP threw a wobbler, asked for the original XP disk, so I duly obliged. It then copied some files from the XP disk but told me I needed to reactivate my copy of XP as it had been installed too many times.....wtf....the machine's only a month old ???

Again I duly obliged after a phonecall to Microsoft's helpdesk in the middle of the night.

Lo and behold, I now get a different BSOD whenever I try to sign in GRRRR !!

Suffice to say the machine's going back to the retailer today where I'm going to bend a few ears >:

Watch this space.

How am I going to survive without my fix of Guild Wars ?

Thx for the help though, I'll be back
