Angry Plug N Play XP Pro problems :|

Hello all, i was hoping someone out there could give me a little help here. I recently installed XP pro on my new computer, and i have been having some really odd problems. In Xp when you connect a component via usb, normally it will find the item and install the drivers automatically. My computer is not that way it seems. It will find the component, say a mouse, and ask me if i want to install them. I find this very odd, as on my old pc it would just install itself. I think the biggest issue i am having is when i move my pc, which i do often at lans and stuff, when i remove my mouse for travel and then plug it back in the same port, it does not work. I have to use my keyboard to navigate and install the mouse manually. Any help on this would be awesome

Have you installed the correct drivers for your motherboard? A lot of things, including USB, may not work quite right without them.

If you've done that, try installing the USB device's drivers manually one time, then when you plug the device in later and Windows asks for the drivers, make it automatically search for them. If it manages to find them it may stop bothering you about it. Note that if you plug the device to a different port it may require yet another partial reinstall.
