My guess would be that the Core 2 would be worth the extra.

iTunes is sort of a memory hog to begin with.

I am sure we agree on many things, we just have to find them. Want to light the torch and I will throw it on Netburst, or vice versa?

For £20 and an upgrade to Core 2 Duo? Of course! Should run Guild Wars fine at all max settings, possibly even with 2/4x AA!

Guild Wars is a beautiful game, yet because of it's MMORPG'ness like style, it doesn't really require a 30+ constant frames per second rate for it to 'appear' smooth to you.. Hell, when I had my old ATI Radeon 9250, I played all max (no AA, wasn't supported, haha!) and got a constant 20ish FPS with a bit of a dip of 10FPS in large firefights, even then I only noticed it a little bit. The eye can only see tell a difference on most games from about 20-30FPS (25-30fps maybe).. First person shooter games such as CS:S, BF2, BF2142, Crysis, etc - is where you need all those frames per second - usually wanting a constant 60+ FPS rate.

Now I play on my new Intel C2D rig with an ATI X1950 Pro 512MB at 80+ constant FPS with all settings cranked up to the max with 4x AA, even then in firefights only dipping to 40-50fps! Love it.

What's your ping got to do with anything?

That Pentium Dual Core is not Netburst, its also Core microarchitecture, just with a different name In this case, both CPU's are virtually identical with cache and FSB being the only differences.

EDIT: I just realized, you are correct. I was thinking of the 2130 Dual Core, which is P6 based Yonah. This is a Mermon core, I believe revision 2/M? @_@ Check me if I am wrong. Still, its not true Core architecture, merely a hybrid. True Core archetype is found in the actual Core and Core 2 processors. But good catch anyways, made me think twice.

Take a look at this list:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...icroprocessors

The T2330 is a Core microarchitecture, its Merom, not Yonah. The Previous Pentium-M's aren't Netburst as well, they are P6. You are thinking desktop CPUs, which were not the same as laptop CPUs until recently.

The T2330 is a Core microarchitecture. Actually it even has 64 bit extensions which the Core brand CPUs do not have. The Previous Pentium-M's aren't Netburst as well, they are P6.
See my edit above.

Mermom rev 1 is true Core for mobile, it really was the pivotal point at which Intel unified desktop and mobile lineups. But alas, if the 2330 is Mermon rev 2/M, then it is Core. Still, Mermon is an odd core in and of itself. It doesn't quite lineup with the true Core architechture, because it borrows parts of the P6.

Both CPU's are exactly the same, hence being upgradeable.

The upgrade will give terminator 100Mhz less speed, 1MB more cache and 133MHz more FSB.

I'd get it though, since doubling the cache would probably mean much more performance in a bunch of areas.

Just because they are upgradeable doesn't mean they are the same. One is a Mermon core, the other is Mermon 2/M. @_@ The upgrade is worth the money, certainly. I despise the 2/M core, simply because it is so Laptoppy....is that a word...? w/e

The core structure is, ironically, more "advanced" in the lower end CPU, but in reality, that isn't always better.

That system is overkill for gw as it is now... are you prepping for gw2? Also, yes that system will run gw in x4AA... easily... the only issue is whether or not the system is going to remain with Vista (memory hog)... and is the video card dedicated system or otherwise... (big difference). You can run GW on a overclocked Pentium III...

GW isn't a really hardware taxing game... but that is a decent laptop to run it on. Gratz!
