Default Stress over the Mission Pack

I've spent all of this money buying Guilds Wars, expanding my profile and such before the time was up, but because of bank problems the Guild Wars store wouldn't let me buy there so I had to buy my stuff from Best Buys.

Well I confermed by product and keys and linked it to my Play NC account which had City of Heroes the 29$ double pack and the the Pre-Order for Tabula Rasa hooked to it, so yeah I have the total there so I breathed a sign of relief.

No dice however, I later saw my profile didn't qualify despite meeting the front end qualifying requirements which pissed me off to no end.

I worked hard, Bought the game, spent a fortune on it, linked it to a qualifying profile and everything that met in the time frame yet no nothing.

I found this disturbing Q&A that said 'Only Guild Wars are elegibly counted in the PlayNC store toward your qualification.' which means that I didn't qualify.

Is that how they play? If you already bought everything Guild Wars that there is now way in hell you could qualify? What about there Veteran 2 year players who already have complete accounts? Do they get screwed with no way to get it?

It's Unfair and Unjust and Wrong, Theres a limit to how many character slots one account can have, I know for a fact. But what about those people that already have a maxed out account that didn't go through there store?

They get totaly screwed because they are faster veterans who wanted to have Actual Boxes and the Collecters Editions of there games.

Can any of you see my stress?

Yes I see the stress...but you yourself(bank? Ughhh) are to blame. I remember reading that you had to make a total of $29.99 purchase(s) in the GUILD WARS ONLINE store. you know the one that is accessible after you log into Guild wars client. I don't remember seeing anything about purchasing items thru NCsoft store counting towards GW BmP.

This particular offer changed so often that I don't think ANet knew what qualified and what didn't

First it was only purchased through the online store

Then they added Guild wars purchases through PlayNC

Then they added Guild wars non-electronic products such as the GW mouse - but said it didn't qualify for the Bonus.

Then I saw people saying that such things did qualify

Then the GW site put out a reminder that time was running out for qualification and specifically said "any purchase through the online store or Play NC store."

I, also, wasn't sure so I purchased a non guild wars game from PlayNC - but did not activate it until I received confirmation as to whether it qualified or not - in the end it did not and since I had not activated the game they refunded my money.

However, every email answer they sent was completely different - they were obviously cutting and pasting from older FAQs. One said only purchases from the ingame store. The next said purchases from the ingame store or PlayNC.

It took two days to get a definite answer.

All in all - a really very bad bit of planning, promotion and communication from PlayNC/ANet.

So, yeah, I can see your stress.

Ugh, they had better do somthing to fix this, it really seems vexing, that and a Non Automated script that cyphers questionable at best criteria sort of is cheep as well.

See, this is why I like PlayNC's Veteran Awards, Old accounts are bonused, new accounts can still earn it, it gives a reason to continue play.

But seriously, do they want people to NOT have there wonderfully packed and boxed game and disks and Special Edition issues of there game? it seems counter productive.

On another thing, think there is anything we can do to try to see a Rectification of this error?

Can you direct me to where it says that you qualify for the GW BmP by purchasing items from Best Buy?

So to recap:

1. Your bank messed something up.
2. You bought the game from a non-participating store (for the promo).
3. You're complaining that something that ANet has no control over ruined your chances to get the BmP.

Sound about right? Doesn't any of that sound a little, well, "off", to you?

Here's what I would have done:

1. Bank messes up.
2. I go to a store and buy a gift card from a major credit card company.
3. Use said gift card to purchase the game from Anet's website.
4. Profit.

Default Wrong

Wrong.

I didn't buy all of this to 'get' the bonus.

I linked my GW account to my PlayNC account to try to qualify because I knew buying them in the store would not qualify me.

are you sure you didn't buy everything you did for the bonus? if you didn't buy all of the junk for the bonus(which you didn't get), why the stress?

from what I gather, you bought said products from Best Buy, added the junk, thinking it would count towards the GW BmP when you needed to buy said products Online, in order for it to count...Yes?

I will reiterate what Flubber said for the sake of it being absolutely correct: Quit whining about "ANet's fault" when you're the one not being more inquisitive about your problem and its possible solutions before you went through with your own assumed solution for it.

Read more carefully next time?

I did read Jack,
Quote:

meaning I knew that would not count towards it, I just wanted guild wars.

What I DID do to try to qualify was link my playNC account which had over 30.00 in assorted gathered buys all in the time limit hoping THOSE would qualify me for the bonus because all the main Q&A said about it was 30$ spent in the PlayNC store between Aug 5th and Oct 31st. which was all when I did those. and by linking my account therefor my account is hooked to what I thought was the valid 30 I needed. If I would have known it was not I would have bought a few extra character slots and the GOTY edition upgrade before October ousted.

Actually it IS ANet's fault. When they posted the reminder that time was running out for the BMP they said, "..or purchase and activate any product worth $29 USD through the PlayNC online store." They did NOT specify Guild Wars. Thay said ANY product. The FAQ said the same and I kept screenshots to prove it.

He followed their directions

He bought 29.00 worth of merchandise in PLlayNC and linked his Guild Wars account to that PlayNC account. According to what they clearly stated that should have qualified him for the Bonus. (for those that seem to be having trouble reading for comprehension - he did not expect his best buy purchase to qualify him - he expected his purchase of other material from PLayNC to meed the requirements)

It did not because ANet screwed up and neglected to put the words "Guild Wars Product" after the word any.

It is true that later on that page it says "Guild wars" but that was in relation to which account would receive the bonus - not as to what kind of purchase would qualify.

So, yes, this is ANet's fault - he acted in good faith and they screwed up.

Thankfully, I was saved from losing $30.00 because I figured when you're dealing with ANet marketing expect a screw up.

He said he bought the stuff from Best Buy. Nowhere, ever, did they say buying something from Best Buy qualified for the BMP.

This is NOT about Best Buy. This is about a customer who bought NCSoft products from the NCSoft store, thinking they would count towards the Bonus Mission.

Is that any surprise, since Anet claims you can do just that according to Anet's Bonus Pack description still on their website:

Then the fine print:

Does anyone else see this as slightly misleading?

I don't know if this is Anet's fault, or NCSoft. Seems silly to me for NCSoft to punish people who are expanding their account to include other (subscription based!) NCSoft products.

If you met the conditions, you should keep at Anet and NCSoft. Good luck!

Atleast you didnt get some fraud error code, no matter what u did to complain UGH, this BMP has been nothing but a crap on a monkeys hand since it came out, its just ready aiming for your face and when its finally over, ur all messy and the monkey is happy even if ur not.

In non-retarded terms= A-net just doesnt care about its offline investors, not 1 of us, i complained to A-Net about the error code and was never replied to, they never do anything about what happens on my account, my assassin was in some bug where i couldnt leave town, i had aquired Legendary Survivors and A-Net said, i might aswell delete it and start again, wich i had to wich left me all P.O'd

I got my answer, but Flubber? you took that 'way' out of context. One: I wanted Guild Wars. Two: I didn't want to spend 4 hours and five migranes trying to reason 'again' with the bank. Three: I had a logical contigency plan.

Why on earth would I be dishonest of a support thread? and speaking of dishonest look at your avatar, now that guy looks dishonest.

No I don't. You clearly missed something:

Yes, it does say any product in the online store, however that's not where the OP's mistake came from, so let's revisit the first post...

He bought his stuff in the wrong store thinking it would qualify for the BMP. It does not. Based on the information given, he does not qualify. Anet hasn't done him anything wrong at all.

I suspect that the BMP will be available for purchase in the on-line store. You get it for free if you qualify, but have to pay for it if you don't. I also suspect that it will be relatively cheap.
