Angry Installation problem Argh!

I've just purchased Guild Wars Platinum Edition and I can't seem to get it to install.

It gets to the 'Connecting to ArenaNet screen and stays at 0%.

Is this a port/firewall issue? Do I have to install ordinary guild wars first? Because when I put the CD in, it only has the option to install GW: Eye of the north.

I mean, I had to go back to the store a second time because the guy forgot to put the CD in the case. Could he of put in the wrong CD? Does the Platinum Edition CD have an option to install GW? not just the addon. or Is the arenanet server down?

I really want to play this game

I have more than adequate PC specs to run this game, Im also on a 1.5mb connection too. I've left it on the same connecting screen for 30mins and it didn't move once. There no data being transmitted at all. It looks like a firewall issue - but i've activated it. I thought it may also be because I have a dynamic IP but i read in other threads it doesn't matter.

very fraustrating

Install order shouldn't matter. It's all the same client.

As for the connectivity issue, let's see...

1. Did you give GW.exe inbound and outbound permissions on your firewall? (Presuming you have one.)

2. Do you have a netgear router? These have special problems with GW. (Run a search.)

do you already have Gw installed?

if you do there is no need to install it again. Simply add the key to your account when you log in

If it is a firewall problem, just turn off your firewall till its done. You can trust anet

Sounds like a firewall issue - turn off your firewall(s) and see if it works then. If it does, you can then figure out how to get the firewall to work with GW.

As far as the CDs go, I don't know what would be included in the Platinum Edition, but really all you need is the key. All the CDs would have essentially the same client, and I would expect the EotN CD to have the latest gw.dat file (of any others)
