Try setting the CPU's affinity to run on a single core! That cured the problem for me, and loads of other players too, with my dual-core AMD.

Try cleaning your computer- whats the temperature the inside is at currently? When I first started Guild Wars it crashed every 3 minutes, I e-mailed the company and eventually they found out the core temperature was around 120+ degrees farenheight while playing.

What's wrong with 120°F? That's only around the 49°C mark and nowhere near a dangerous temperature.

I have no idea what it actually was but, after cleaning it the temperature dropped around 20 degrees, (so maybe it was 135+?)

Fire Guild Wars up, minimise it and then bring up the task manager. Right click on the Gw.exe process and click "Set Affinity" then just untick one of the cores. Close task manager and go back to Guild Wars.

Default Experiencing major freezes as well.

This computer is just a week old now, part of the reason of getting it was to play Guild Wars.

The System

------------------
System Information
------------------

Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 2048MB RAM

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
Display Memory: 256.0 MB
Current Mode: 1440 x 900 (32 bit) (75Hz)
Monitor: SyncMaster 931BW , SyncMaster Magic CX931BW (Digital)
Driver Version: 6.14.0011.6921 (English)

We have been experiencing lots of freezes since installing Guild Wars, can only play it in 5 minute blocks before it freezes the entire machine. Have tried it in windowed mode and with Task Manager up to keep track of things but when it freezes it makes using Task Manager impossible.

Have tried to put Guild Wars only on one processor and that seemed to work for a bit, allowing an average gameplay time of 20 minutes before it would freeze, yet now the hard drive's speaker starts beeping continuous and we have to switch it off.

Anyway had any luck fixing this, haven't had much luck from support.
