Default New Wireless Lag Solution! Wireless Zero Configuration - Quick Free Fix

I am proud to post this new find for Windows Xp users who use wireless, it will not work for all people but it has completely removed lag from Gw and CSS for me. I am on wireless and i have always had Excellent signal and Max 54mbps, yet i suffered from lag bursts frequently on GW CSS and even Skype.

My adapter:
Netgear WG111 54 Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter
The Router I connect to:
Netgear DG834G 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router

My find is this article. It seems that the service Wireless Zero Configuration is very much flawed and may be the cause of your lag. After switching it off with the help of this little guide i no longer have lag.

If this goes badly for you then you can change it back by using this guide.

But if this does work for you, good good and your lag free. After Disabling the startup of this program i suggest restart your pc and see if the service has or hasn't started up again. If its still disabled and your connected like usual, then great! you can leave this thread and be happy with no lag. But if it did start up even though you had set it to disabled, this of course would be annoying because you would have to go through run>services.msc>disable on every start up. Of course there is an easy way around that, you make a batch file. In simple words this would be a file that will act as a command to switch off the Wireless Zero Configuration when you click it.

Making a batch file if needed
  1. Open Notepad
  2. Insert just this: C:\windows\system32\net.exe stop wzcsvc
  3. Save as say DisableWZC.bat (with .bat) and save it to a safe place. (Mine: in local disk)

You now have a batch file, by clicking on this it will command Wzc to switch off. You can place this file wherever you want and even make a shortcut to it by right clicking and selecting "Create Shortcut", you can then place this shortcut anywhere you want. I placed my shortcut in the quicklaunch (below) i just have to click once after startup and im all good!

Hope it fixed yours just like it fixed mine.
