This happened to me yesterday where I had to sit and let the game client work on repairing my data archive for like 20 mins. I logged out and didnt get it again so I figured it fixed everything.

But now a day later I am currently sitting here letting it work again. I thought this damn thing was suppose to fix it -.-

How do I fix this.

I assume your running the "repair" command line option on your guild wars shortcut?

If the repair command isn't functioning correctly, reinstall guild wars. After a fresh install, let the -image command run for a night depending on your internet to re download all the content.

I too was having this problem almost everyday. Recently, however, the ~~CURSE OF THE DATA ARCHIVING~~ hasn't struck. Helpful information to know if it does happen again, though.

Well I'm not making it do -repair or -image or anything like that. It is doing it by itself. I click on my shortcut on my desktop and it seems once everyday it has to repair data archive. This comes up by itself.

im having the same problem, but deleting the gw.dat and then using the -image to create a new .dat seems the only way to me.
only 58000 more files left.

Try defragging the .DAT file. Done mine the other week, and it was in a pretty poor state when I ran the analyzer.

One of the most likely cases is your computer was busy doing something else while you were loading something on GW (like changing levels, or in a high-population town).

Some fixes that might help if this is the case:
Don't multitask while playing GW (start by not using windowed mode for example)
Get more RAM for the computer.
Check and make sure you don't have anything else loading by itself, like random software or possibly a virus.

Unless the actual file system is somehow corrupted or the hard drive faulty, defragging the file should not change anything from the game's perspective. Yes, file reading and writing functions work slower with a massively fragmented file, but they should still deliver exactly the same results no matter how many pieces the file's in so don't expect defragging to get rid of the "repairing data archive" thing.

My advice: just delete the gw.dat file and leave -image running overnight.

as a final note maybe try running a full scan disk to ensure that the indexes ect are correct.

You can do this by going: "Start > Run"
type in chkdsk /f <drive letter where guild wars resides>
eg: chkdsk /f c:

run -repair

rerun, if it doesnt work then delete gw.dat

run -image, let it run until its done

This has happened to me before and now happened to me again.
I was just playing some PvE when this happened just a second ago. Nothing highly graphical. When I had my error my window-mode screen disappeared, apparently I was till playing GW, I just couldn't see it. In an attempt to reboot GW without losing my instance (which I was playing with a friend) I disabled my wireless card. I was going to hit my X button, but hit full-screen mode instead. My Guild Wars crashed, I had to restart my computer, and here I am with a "repairing" message, and after that's done none of my .dat file is there. It doesn't seem to matter whether or not I'm running in windowed or full-screen, this has occurred in both instances. Any help would be welcome that doesn't involve completely dling GW over again (even though I've already started on that).

Dell Inspiron E1705
Intel Core Duo Processor (2.00 GHz)
nVidia GeForce 7800 GX Go (256MB individual video RAM; 84.63 forceware; latest nVidia drivers)
1022MB RAM

I doubt any of that information helps with this specific problems, but in case it does I'll keep it there.
